Which Caravan Club?
Which Caravan Club? Is there any real significance between the Caravan Club and the Camping & Caravanning Club or are their benefits much the same?

The C&CC club are less regimented than the CC but their facilities are often less pristine than the CC. They also tend to attract families with young children. C&CC sites tend to enjoy the benefits of more forest/ natural sites. The biggest differentiator
is that the CC gives access to a huge number of CLs. We are members of, and use, both.0 -
Snowy a lot of us are members of both - to give us more options - I didn't join the C &CC until fairly recently and I really enjoy their THSs (Temporary Holiday Sites). In some cases their sites are not so well kept - I was recently at St Neotts and the roads in the site would cause a lot of grumbles from CC members! But the location far outweighs that for me. A big advantage of the CC is not having to pay a deposit on bookings and the ability to book in advance and cancel outside of 72 hours of arrival. C&CC also give discounts to the over 55s which is much appreciated. Some people claim the 3 Cs choose your pitch for you - but I have found that they ask me what I want/need and then escort me to the appropriate pitch. As a Solo Caravanner I find generally they ARE the more friendly club. I think if I had to choose - if it wasn't for CT - I would desert the CC - but I am lucky to be able to remain with both!
I guess you need to know how much you might use either Club for your particular style of Caravanning and also where you want to go for the best choice of sites.

Many thanks to you both for your positive feedback. As we are older and our family have flown the nest, wife now being disabled, I think the CC may best suit our needs. We were thinking about being members of both, however we will keep an open mind.

Being members of both definitely provides a wider choice of sites. On balance I think CC is the better of the two for reasons already given but they both fulfill a need.

Absolutely nothing significant to choose between them. The C&CC offer discounts for older people out of peak season, is a laid back and friendly organisation and offer holiday rallies that you don't have to book in advance.
The CC is much more formal with a much higher percentage of old age pensioners who can be a bit intolerant of Children/Dogs/People enjoying themselves/BBq's/ play areas/Awnings facing each other/ continental vans ETC, all having been complained about on this forum. Rallies have to be booked in advance..
I'm a member of both organisations and choose a site depending on it's location, not how pretty the flowers are in the public lavatories.

Tried membership of C & CC but it just wasn't Me ! Therefore I let it lapse, but you may well find it does exactly what
You want, purely a personal choice !!{ Just be careful of having "The open Mind" -- many strange ideas might creep in if the security ain't tight

I'm currently a member of both and the differences have been mentioned already. I have only recently rejoined the C&CC because we needed to use a particular site in a particular location. It was actually a more regimented site (in terms of layout) than the CC ones we've stayed at. There are a few C&CC sites that don't accept caravans - I'd recommend looking at the sites of both clubs online first to see which covers the area you are interested in more
We won't stay members of both as we don't use sites, CLs or CSs enough to warrant it. This time the CC will be dropped for many of the reasons K outlines
Oh - it's over 60 now for new age concessions with the CCC I think

Some great answers there - both clubs have excellent wheelchair accessible showers too - I research those for when my son takes up camping again. I think the Booking system is the biggest difference - I really like being able to book in advance and not
be penalised if I can't get there - this year has been family crazy and messed up a lot of my plans.0 -

both have five van sites both have some excellent sites. Cc much better booking system cc much better pitching up system. Cc older clientele generally with fewer children. CCC has one benefit and that is that you can be entertained for hours by the antics
of campers. We are members of both.0 -
Being a member of both I disagree with the statement that there is nothing to choose between the twe clubs. Whilst the C&CC do have some very good landmark sites the overall standard is not as consistently as high as the CC. We belong to both because we want the greatest choice of locations. We use our own facilities so if blocks are .ot of the standard we like it's not the end of world.

(Guess that makes me a "fully paid up member" of the C&CC fan club! )

member of both, cherry pick the best from each...
sites pretty much the same, CL or CS no real difference, CCC has the wonderful THS set up with a huge diary of lovely places to stay...CC has best prices on ferry crossings....

Like most people posting we are members of both clubs. As most agree there is not a lot between them. The CC sites are more numerous and generally are a bit tidier but it is not enough to affect our choice in general. The CC lets you choose your pitch the
C&CC allocate one although you can reject the one allocated if you wish and opt for another.The CC booking system is far easier to use but again the advantage is not enough to make us just use CC sites. The C&CC asks for deposits though and cancel within 30 days and you lose it. Both have discount systems making comparisons sometimes difficult.
Both have comprehensive services available and are near enough the same on this.
The C&CC does generally have more younger members.

I think the Camping & Caravan club is expencive,
The Membership is only £37.00
the cheapest with E.H.U. £20.00
C.C. C.L. with E.H.U. £10.00 -£15.00
Their £20.00 against our C.L. with E.H.U. £15.00 saving of £5.00 per night or £70.00 on a 2 week summer holliday,
unless someong can show me that you can get a cheap night like our C.L. I will stay hear

You need to compare a CC club site with a C&CC club site and a CL with a CS.

I do dislike 1pm arrival times. We are usually up before 7am. If we are moving on we are therefore ready to go by 9am (unless we want an early start). Typically the next site will be around 2 to 3 hours away. If a two hour drive we will start final preps
later by an hour. to leave at 10am. I dislike having to hang around until 11am. Similarly at the other end if we arrive at just after 12 we will have set up, had a sandwich and a brew and be ready to go out by 1pm.If it is 1pm arrival then,having had breakfast around 7.30 and being diabetic, I am running out of steam by 1pm and so will have had a few digestive bicuits or similar en-route.
I wish that arrival times were 11 am and would be happy with the same departure time - maybe 1pm on Sundays for weekenders?

I quite like that idea Easy especially with the compromise of the slightly later Sunday....this is going off topic though so to get it back on we too prefer CC though use a brilliant commercial CC&C site throughout the year and it is 1st class with facilities,
they do pitch you but for us that is not a problem and we have been going so long now that if our favourite pitch is free they always leave it for us if we are staying0
