Following our recent holiday we have collected lots of tar splashes on the caravan front. OH has been successful in removing them from the bodywork but is unsure how to remove them from the acrylic windows. Has anyone got any suggestions?

No real ideas. When, as a kid, i got tar on my skin mum would use butter

Dry wash products seem to remove them well from the car, where you get them on the bottom of the doors, but have never had a problem on the van. I have however used dry wash on the windows and it has done no harm, so perhaps worth a try. Does your car have rear mud flaps? as we have never had tar on the van, even after towing on some fairly melted roads.

Steve, there was a vast amount of roadworks going on in France  and the tar could have been thrown up by anyone. Can't really complain as that is why the roads in France are so superior to ours

True. A vast change in that respect. When we were going to France in the 60's and 70's our roads always seemed good when you got home. No longer the case unfortunately.

try wd40 but hold a rag under so as not to let it run everywere. wd40 will soften the tar

Thanks MM that seems to do the trick. If the weather is fine tomorrow OH is going to remove the entire window and clean it on the lawn. Surprised

Quite a few 'cleaners' will attack acrylic windows, sometimes not even immediately so be careful what you use. I've recently been advised to use Fenwicks Windowize to remove scratches and is obviously safe on acrylics. My guess is that it will easily remove
tar spots. It costs about £4.50 including postage for a 100 mil bottle from that well known online place beginning with A but it goes a very long way. Good to keep in the caravan for those annoying scratches that I'm sure we all get on our windows from time
    to time.

On car paint the tried and trusted method is petrol, damp a rag and simply wipe off. On windows not sure. Try a test on an edge.

Autoglym do a remover maybe a read of the instructions to see if it's suitable.
