Hello,

I have no knowledge of the caravanning world so hoping someone on here will be able to help.

My mum purchased a caravan in France in 2012 through a friend but due to her health it has been un-used for over a year so we would like to sell it as we are paying for storage fees.

It is a Hymer 540 4 Berth and is currently kept in storage in Grimaud in the South of France – the storage company will drop off and collect anywhere within the region so ideal if you like holidaying in the South of France or ski-ing in the winter. I have
tried the storage company in Grimaud but my French is limited as is their English.

Thats the background and I have no idea where to start? What its value is? What documentation should I have to change ownership if the caravan is in France? Where to advertise? Would it infact be easier just to scrap?

Any help advice much appreciated!

Thanks

Julie

Do you know the age and condition of the caravan? You will need that before you can start to value the van. What was paid for the van in 2012? Take a few thousand of that value might give you a starting point.

As it is in France, and I assume you are planning to sell it in France, there will no doubt be different requirements for documents etc than in the UK. You might need specialist help!

I agree, age and condition could move the price between £20k and under £1k. In the latter case you'll probably want to give it away. I'm sorry about your mum's health though.

Ok I will start with getting the year and value.

Yes just want to sell it quickly in France so we are no longer paying storage fees.

Any suggestions on specialist help in France or that would be able to help?

How about searching for a Hymer dealer in France?
