Long Stays
So, about to collect out first caravan in a few weeks, moving from a motorhome. We have thought that it might be nice to put it on a site and keep it there for 12 months maybe, occasionally taking it off for touring holidays, is this possible? Any one have
any reccomendations - thinking Dorset, Cotswolds, maybe even North Devon. We live in Torbay and think somewhere up to 2 hours away. Not that fussed where, rural is good pub in walking distance is goos with good doggy walking!
Thanks in advance

Many sites do seasonal pitches or have storage and will site the caravan for you when you come or let you do it. Do not know which do in your area but either a quick ring round or an internet search should find them.
What you need on a site is personal so best to check them out as what appeals to me may not be for you.

Hi , We have a touring caravan seasonal pitch up on the coast in Cumbria . We don't have the facilities to store at home , hence the seasonal pitch . For us it's a 30 minute drive and often use at weekends or through the the week when working and go to work
from there . We take the caravan 2/3 times a year for a holiday or long weekend and go somewhere else and it works out well for us , like Wildwood said , check around , go and visit and see what's on offer .Paul

Find the right site and storing there can be great. A couple of years after my wife died and Imy youngest had turned 17 I used to go waway for just about every other weekend for 8 months of the year. I liked a bit of fishing and the site had 3 good fishing
pools, The river Wyre and good canal fishing within a few miles, I used to stay for 4 nights about twice a month and the site also had a proper pub on site sed by locals as well as a dining area, There were statics on part of the site and I got to know some
of the regulars. Whilst I was working it was great for me as it was just less than an hour and 10 mins from home or work, about 67 miles I reckon. I had plenty of leave available as I often worked long days and took time in lieu. I was able therefore to leave
work at say 2.30pm having phoned the site. Before 4pm I would be having a brew. The owner used to site the van for me before I arrived. I just had to fill up water and position waste and plug in electrics. Ater the 4 nights stay I would leave the site about
7am and be in work for 8.15. (car was parked in the car park so as not to disturb anybody). Owner would put the van away.I was particularly fortunate as the owner offered me storage free of charge in a secure compound as it was not a large part of his business.
If I went on holiday for a few weeks I would stay a couple of nights there and move on.. A nice little village a few miles away.
Find the right site and it can be excellent. I have plenty of room to store at home and as my partner and I rarely weekend we go off on longer tours for a third of the year
