Hi Tony, I stopped at Richmond Hargill House on my way to Northumberland last year as it is just up the A66 from Scotch corner. It is about 2 miles up from Scotch corner on the right hand side. Next time I go north and need to stop over night I will certainly
stop there as I always go north via the A1.Martin

Hi Tony,
The CC site at Strathclyde Park, or a wee bit further up, maybe Luss CCC, or CC site at Blair Drummond / The Gart private site at Callendar, if you're not going up A82.
We love North Ledaig and Oban.
Enjoy, Cheers.

I reckon Tony will be arriving too late for admission to any club sites. A friendly CL might be better where arrival times maybe more flexible.

Are you in a hurry to get there? York, Richmond, Barnard Castle, Penrith and Carlisle are all worth a day or so before you even get to the border. Could you make it a holiday tour rather than a stressful journey ?

I wouldn't kip at Scotch Corner either the Service area is rubbish for caravans and the first lay by om A66 is too close to a large traveler site. Englethwite Hall is very useful and both clubs have sites near Barnard Castle which is close.

If you are looking for an overnight near Scotch Corner you could try Durham Grange. It is just off the motorway and has late night arrivals if you get there after 8 pm. It is not a lot further up the A1 from Scotch Corner and you can go further up to Newcastle
and cross to Carlisle from there.0 -
Personally, if your not reaching Scotch corner until about 8pm, I would just carry on. The A66 has several laybys along it that I have seen people stop overnight on before & if you don't fancy them, just continue to the moto services on the M6 & stop there
for the night. When we go the Scotlands west coast from the north east, we always overnight at Hamilton services.0
