Aren't they in breach of contract?  I pulled that one for a car some years ago it worked wonders!  How annoying for you.

Cabbiemick, as you've already got a thread going regarding your new caravan, I'll close your original one and invite people to continue the discussion here.

Our Lunar Stellar arrived around three weeks late, late being based on what the dealer told us.

We have ordered three caravans in our time and they all arrived late including our current Lunar.

If you do not make the delivery date an essential part of the contract then the estimated date is not legally binding. They do however have to deliver within a reasonable period which would start with the estimated date. If you want to put pressure on them
you can write and complain about the delay saying this is unreasonable and delivery within say 28 days is now required or you will consider they have failed to complete the contract and will consider they have cancelled and require your deposit back.

There is a risk in that you may then never get the caravan you want so more subtle pressure may be a better idea but you certwinly need to make a nuisance of yourself.

This is exactly why we have never bought " off plan " so to speak & only ever buy vans that the dealer already has in stock. Longest wait we had was two weeks while the part ex & PDI checks were done. At 7 weeks delay, I would be a dealers nightmare & plague
    them every single day.

We are going to be about 4 weeks late getting our new van.  Build date is now June 6th (I think), then it has to be transported from the factory to the dealers.   They will do their checks and then the Thule awning has to be installed by Rose awnings.  I
reckon it will be 16th June before we get it.   Original date was end May.  Frown

Ours took 6 months from the point of ordering and that involved swapping from 1 brand to another, because the lead time went from 2 months to 5 to not prepared to wait any longer.

Hi DSB which manufacturer? We have a Coachman on order estimated delivery to dealership mid June - hand over end of June after they have changed over tracker etc. Starting to have doubts now - but at least we still have a van!! Will call dealership mid June
for a progress report!! Hope you don't have to wait too long - we keep going and having a look at the demo model so we can buy new items for it!!

Of the three we ordered none turned up on time and all different makes so I am afraid the problem seems wide spread. I was told by the last dealer who sounded very frustrated that the manufacturer had sent a lorry with the wrong caravans on board on the
last one which is about par for the course with caravans.

Our new van will be a Bailey Alutech.  We've always been happy with Bailey, but one of the main reasons for sticking with them is that we want a Thule awning fitted and it won't effect the caravan warranty.  We're just hoping that we won't have any further delay as we have a holiday planned and we wanted to take the new van.

DSB the breach of contract words worked for me and saved a planned holiday with a new car AND it seemed to improve my relationship with the dealer.  New respect for lone female it seemed! Innocent
