Not sure how long as yet ET, depending on the weather but out till towards the middle of next month, all being well. We're onto Low Glengyre CL next near Stranraer for 5 nights at least before starting our homeward journey.

Who knows? It depends on how long before DVLA get their act together and decide if I can have my licence back. Even if I get a positive decision, I suspect it will be too late in the year so in all probability next March if at all.

Probably next March for us as well.  I tend to spend the winter catching up with my family and friends and all the various activities and groups I am involved with at home.

Presumably your GP has supported your request to reinstate your license, CY?

(Excuse me, I don't recall reading why you lost it and feel free to tell me to mind my own business)

Three years ago when I lost the bulk of vision in my right eye and had/have a weak left eye the registrar at the hospital said that I needed to notify the DVLA, I checked up the regs and decided I that it was not required. A week or two later I mentioned it to the consultant. He confirmed that I was correct and said it was a good job that I had common sense as 'once they are involved, even if needlessly,  it causes no end of problems'. He said that he would have a word with his registrar and explain to him.

It was concern over my field of vision, identified by my opthamologist. Reading the DVLA blurb, one needs 140 degree field of vision and I am fairly sure I comply with this. The daft thing is that the letter from DVLA referred to me being unable to read
a numberplate which was total rubbish as my distance vision is better than average.

I wish my consultant had been as prgmatic as ET's.

I have my eyes checked every 6 months and, as I am aware of a gradual deterioration, I dread it. I looked at the results of my last field of vision test with the consultant and noted only two misses on the field. He commented that the result was good and
that everybody had a small blind spot somewhere and they were probably in mine. I notice that my glasses are ready for a change at the end of each 12 months as the vision weekens. I do still have the average 20/20 vision with glasses on - just. But it has
gone down over the last 3 years

If you are going to Luss I hope it has dried out a bit since we were there in September.

We will be home now till at least March, we have a lot to do here, our children keep us busy with all sorts of things!

Sometimes we envy those who can please themselves, but then we remember how lucky we are to have our 2 so near us........even though  they can be a pain at times!!

Looking forward to Christmas, especially as we are all invited to DD's,  so not too much for us to do..........especially not the dusting!
