Hi my wife and I are in our mid and late 50s and own a dandy destiny which we enjoy but it's getting a pain to put up and take down. It's been a long road to this point started with an old very small 2 birth onto an Avondale Kingfisher lovely but found
to have damp PX for a Bailey ranger front window damage not covered by insurance break from caravaning for a year moved onto a Swift Accord lovely van then due to house sale and move another break for a year or two then bought a van on eBay unseen but believed
write up drove from Swansea to Sussex to pick up few years old £2000 found out on return home damp !!! annoyed with myself because I did smell something but ignored it to my cost can't remember make or model my mind trying guard to forget episode but my wife
doesn't onto new Bailey Olympus 534 due to other expenses that went as well. Gap of a few years missing it I read about Dandys, like a caravan you can put away wet easy towing keep on drive etc etc. Well after all the above you'd think we would give up but
no it's getting harder to errect like I said and at the end of the year I gave a small pension law sum and want to buy another van that will fit on the drive so looking at around 16.5 ft. Choices I have are Freedom, Elddis explore 304/302, Gobur, Triango Silver
310/290. I am scared to death of buying 2nd hand as guaranteed to be the one with damp and the Mrs will murder me if that happens again. Apart from getting me certified any advice would be gratefully received, obvious priority well built and size.

Get a damp meter or take someone with you who really knows what they are doing? And best of luck - I have been quite lucky so far but partly because I have done the above? Just had my 2008 van certified damp free despite a hole in the roof when I hit a
tree 2 years ago and patched with some very sticky black stuff commonly used on patio roofs etc.0 -
Add a Lunar Ariva to the list, probably the nicest of the very small caravans and to me far nicer than many you list.
To avoid the potential damp problem or others get your choice examined by using the club scheme if the cost of the caravan you want justifies it or get the a mobile engineer look over it for you.

Agree, also the Lunar Stellar is a lovely small 'van.
We had a Sterling Europa (as featured on my profile photo), but I don't think they make the end kitchen version anymore. Pity, it suited our lifestyle fine.
Completely off topic, but are you a Newton Heath, Manchester lad?

Hi thanks for the advice and information, no not a local lad but been going to Old Trafford for 40 + years first time in 2nd division although only a couple of times a season now It's a long round trip from Swansea.
I'm from Failsworth, next door to Newton Heath, but moved from there many years ago.
When you get your new 'van, why not stay at the Club's Bury site for United's home matches. There are good tram connections from Bury to "the Swamp".
Good excuse for a weekend away, as if you need one!
