When do you start?
I was out at a meeting last night and was thinking about our first trip of the year in our new caravan, and thinking "can't wait, only 2 weeks to go". Wrong, its this coming week. Yippeee. Its only a long weekend and its not far (Buxton), but we make
sure that everything is running smoothly and if needed, its only an hour's drive home. Our first week though is in April where we're going to Stratford-upon-Avon, River Park (I think) which is in Tiddington, its on the river and there's a water taxi to take
you into Stratford. Its my first year being retired, so don't need to think of how many holidays I've got left

We started earlier this year as health wasn't too good in Feb/March last year so already had 2 trips away and would have gone in January except we took a cottage in Suffolk instead as we took MIL.
Really enjoyed getting the van going again. Hoping for another short break soon before our first big break of the year to Germany at the end of April.

I'm going away next week for a fortnight. For me the weather needs to be warm enough for walking or cycling all day. So I normally don't go away Nov-Feb.

Don't really stop though stalled this year due to daughters health...recharging batteries is what it's about though

Now had 2 trips since the start of the year, third one next week. First trip was just a weekend to check things were all ok. Just as well really had a leaky water pump, plastic parts has gone brittle. Hope you enjoy your trip Tombar and all goes well.

vanning (for us) is an all year round activity, interrupted only by 'proper holidays'

Never stop!!! Returned home in Mid Jan after a 46 night trip, 23 days at home and now in our 5 wk of this trip. Home for 2 wks and then away for 10+ wks. Agree with Fisherman, got to make full use of our investment.

Done four trips out this year, fifth in three days time, sixth two weeks after, we like to get away twice a month, stops us going senile..

Like others, we tour all year around, come rain or shine, and fit in different kinds of breaks as well. Lucky we can do so, good to see somewhere different, chill out, etc...

We are normally out all year round. Padstowe just before Chrismas for a week. Derbyshire in January & February I know its more dificult with a Caravan as lot of sites are closed. We can squeeze in most places for a night. Last weekend was really expensive
we paid a £1 for a night in Matlock Bath on HARD Standing. Had the place all to ourselves. No water or electric though. Pub Stop Saturday night and home Sunday.0 -
We usually end our season at the October half term and begin the next year during the February Half Term. I know folk have extolled the virtues of caravanning over Christmas and New Year, but for us, it is not really an option because of other things. Perhaps

We never stop either. We were away Christmas and new year and had a few weekends away since. Problem we have I get more holiday days than my wife, so we keep fairly local so she can drive to the site after work. We get away at least once a month between
October and March. I am very jeleous of all you retired folk than can get away so much.0 -
I generally lay up Dec - Feb. The days are cold and short and frequently wet. The expense of pitch and fuel seem a bit pointless if only to demonstrate one's level of 'macho'ness.

CY, of course youre right, thats why those with a bit more time in their hands can spend this (in the van) in warmer climes....touring around the uk in crap weather isnt my idea of 'doing the dream' either but, this year, circumstances have kept us in the uk until parents have safely moved into their new bungalow.....less than a month now.....i hope.....
still, the odd package holiday or cruise will help pass the time....

David, we are just 'kicking our heels' here at the mo, but trying to get away as often as possible....we have done about six trips (and the canaries) so far, off to Weymouth on wednesday for a week or so (yes, i dont know exactly how long we'll stay, lol).
we are then meeting up with some friends from the New Forest who are at a 'manufacturers' rally in Wells the following week and then we are doing the same thing in Banbury...
nothing else planned other than a cruise to Eastern Med in May...though a similar type of holiday has just caught OH's eye for the back end of April.......
this 'staying at home' lark costs a bomb.....

We stopped last October then put van into storage, I took it to the dealers for its warranty service begrudgingly last week then its back to storage. Our start begins with 9 weeks across the water the beginning of May then we tour the UK until October again, but may try Xmas away this year.
