    Can anyone see page 3 of this thread?  I get an error message all the time.  The error message is as follows:

    We experienced this on a site in Orkney, unfortunately barrier cards and code numbers can be passed on to gain admission. We were quite upset to see children involved too, the reaction was low key to avoid confrontations. The police became involved and we were glad to be moving on but felt sorry for the site staff who sensibly, behaved in a very calm manner. I would imagine the CC staff are getting back up but it must be a difficult situation for them.

    We shared a campsite in France with a group of Irish travelling folk heading south - all with far better outfits than ours. Most of them with his and her Mercedes - one towing the top of the range Fendt or Hobby caravan,  the other towing the well fitted
    box trailer with dishwasher, tumble drier, etc on board. Fascinating to see what they had, and talk to all their friendly children.

    I was checking in to Tewksbury site last year for one night on route home. The individual checking in in front of me, well, let's just say he had communication and hygene challenges. I thought it a little odd.

    Low and behold when we went for dinner there were four or five Transit/Hobby outfits on the public car park outside, with a steady stream of individuals traipsing into the site to use the otherwise locked facilities.

    When we returned the police were there, outfits still there, but no one to be seen.

    A little disconcerting.

    yes we also just returned from this site today probably would'nt go back due to the experience, we were also warned by the warden on arrival to stay clear of certain pitches but most concerning was the constant movement of commercial vehicles at all times
    of day and night  and fact that our children were scared as they heard movement during the night at side of our caravan which was experienced by others on site. not a site to go back to.

    Iainmar Just read your post re above in the story section.  What you have written would be better if copied as a review for the club site.  Most people read site reviews for info about sites and not CT or stories.  If you did post as a review the club maySurprisedstart
    to communicate with members about issues like this

    Some suggested solutions: report on the site reviews; write (and email) to CC HQ and post as signed for delivery; Club to change membership checks to include proof of home address; check names are on electoral roll (as if a finance check); re-introduce ban
    on commercial type vehicles; stop cash payments for pitches on arrival; any other ideas?

    This could easily happen on any, or EVERY, site if it is not addressed quickly by the Club. Word will spread rapidly - and I'm not meaning amongst CC Members either.

    I expect all sites are vulnerable whether CC or not, if there are no problems, disturbances or concerns then everyone can be on site and enjoy their stay. Incidentally some sites, including the other club won't allow movement on site between certain hours.

    I don't suppose the Club can do much about it as long as they are members and behave themselves. I have been woken up in the morning by a shouting match (at about 0730hrs) on a commercial site to view the police just about to tow a caravan off site to the protests of the owner and another gentelman. Apparently what had happened was two traveller caravans had crept on to site after reception had closed hoping to go undetected. Security had obviuously spotted them at some point in the early hours and called the police. After much debate the two vanners with families and caravans hitched up and left the site to park in a layby just outside.

    Police intervention is a rarity Peedee! They rarely do more than turn up, take a look and then bleat about not being able to do anything! This was certainly our experience on the Club's Exeter Site a few years ago. What made it worse was that there had been
    a serious incident where an elderly gent had been verbally abused for the code to the shower blocks, and he had to have medical treatment. I have never seen a site empty so quickly as that day. It started with one unit, then more arrived as word got round.
    No membership in this instance. Site now has barriers on. I personally would not stay on a site with Travellers present, have had other bad experiences with them. The Wardens need support, strong support in instances like this, otherwise the Club risks alienating
    its core membership. No visitor, member or not should be spoiling the enjoyment of the majority with excessive noise and unsocial behaviour. The Club's response at Exeter was very good, an Area Manager was on hand very quickly to help talk to worried members,
    and to make sure that those who wanted to move out got pitches at alternative Club Sites.

    This situation wouldn't worry me at all. I would be out of there quicker that a rat up a drainpipe! They live by their own rules and don't give a damn about anyone else. I have had too many years and too many experiences with these people. No doubt this
    will be removed but I can't make it anything but the truth.

    I have been on to the club HQ and they are looking into it for me and I will let you all know there response the site at strathclyde have barriers and if they have a pass they move around at there leisure totaly unacceptable

    Write your comments here...I agree completely and also have experience of these situations. However caution has to be paramount otherwise your own caravan / MH might become a target.

    Two years ago two traveller groups pitched opposite me at Rowntree Park. Heard a noise late one night and caught one of their clan to the rear of my caravan and when challenged he stated that he was "looking for his dog". I had two bikes on my car roof rack at the time. The following day we were met with the sight of another adult taking a shower outside his caravan and to the side. He was wearing just his underpants. We made up our minds to either move within the site or leave. Fortunately, a pitch became available some distance away. Both traveller vans left two days later.  

    Then, there was the heated argument outside of one van at 1.30 in the morning. Only one description for their behaviour.....Trailer Trash.

    We were at Brighton a month ago and we sw four or five vans right at the eastern end of the esplanade, close to the Marina, however, other than being right in the way of NCR 2, with their sloppy (illegal) parking and 47kg gas bottles, they didnt cause any
    issues....

    looks like the latest change in parking restrictions outside the CC site has kept this clear....strange then, that they seem to be 'allowed' to park on the esplanade for the whole duration of our break.....

    still, parking on an esplanade can be nice, provided its legal, and i shall be partaking of Portsmouth's offering this Wednesday evening as i have an early meeting there and dont want a two hour drive that morning.....

    If they are anything like the lot we encountered on the Brighton CC site last year they dont - they just come out of their vans and urinate on the pitch - what with that and screaming arguments and machinery running in the back of their vans a most unpleasant
    experience

    Your assumption they use their loo is a little optimistic.

    A group moved onto our office car park last year.

    After only two days, the clean up bill was £65k

    The passes are individual and can be deactivated by the wardens so they can prevent movement in and out.

    Just to let you know I got a call back from the club and they were apologetic and this should not happen they are looking at ways to overcome this the regional manager is going to visit and will get back to me, we live in hope

    I am going to wait to see the response from the regional manager  the site is great for visiting Glasgow and would not want to put a bad review the only bad point is the  road works that are ongoing but once complete it will be even better ,but as for the
    travelers I would like to think it is a one off fingers x briantimber

    Still worth a review buraburas, why wait for the regional manager,(you could be waiting a long time)? Posting a review will aid other  members, not put them off, they can always call the site for an update from the wardens...Cool
