CL for us - Keal Lodge....

Bridlington CC site 21st - 24th March then onto Haven Reighton Sands for easter weekend to meet up with our sons family. Bridlington CC site - £31.20 per night. Haven - £19.54 per night - hard standing, 16 amp EHU, indoor/outdoor pool & nightly entertainment
all for the princely sum of £78.16 - SHAME ON THE CARAVAN CLUB for increasing prices during school holidays - That is not what a true "club" does.Write your comments here...Just looked on haven site Reighton Sands on had 25th March available price was £51.50 for the night you have got a great deal.
Yes we were initially stunned at the price as well. But we booked it early January & from the initial £169 cost, we got £6.34 off for CC membership & £84.50 touring discount, leaving just £78.16 to pay. The "full" cost would have been £42.25 per night &
therefore higher than CC price, but I still do not see why a "club" that pretends to be family friendly should inflate prices during school holidays. The supply & demand argument is rubbish where member only sites are concerned as these would still fill up
on a first come first served basis.0 -
I've some sympathy with what you say, lesbunny, and maybe the club could learn some lessons from other providers in offering special deals. But as you say, on a per night basis the club still works out cheaper and I suspect if you look ahead to July and August that difference in pricing will be even greater. Sites like Haven can afford to offer deals like this out of peak season because they charge sky high prices to families who go in peak season (and, in effect, subsidise these deals.) Fortunately the club doesn't do this to anything like the same degree.
Getting back to the OP, we tend to avoid sites in busy holiday periods, but we'll spend Easter down in Perranporth ( lucky enough to have the static down there as an alternative to the tourer! )

Hi Moulesy, Enjoy Perranporth, been there a few times myself ( has a very challenging golf course ). The offer from Haven is for easter - ie peak season & I think if you check CC prices, every site on the network charges peak prices for easter, all half
term periods & school summer breaks. I remain a member purely for the convenience of using local sites for 1-3 day breaks, but the pricing policy of member only "club" sites really does irritate.0 -

frontdoorlocker. Donnewell Farm is a great CL even has sat hookup and if you need a sat box they can lend one.
If you javent been before the walk into Sedgefield is away from roads and there is a great cafe at the far end of the town whose afternoon teas are great.
Weve used Donnewell farm a few times and look forward to visiting again.

We never go away at Easter or other bank holidays. Too busy and too expensive, but we are going away after the Easter break .

Chesterfield Country Park near Dunbar for us - meeting up with friends who have a static there. Can't wait as not been away much so far this year and due to other commitments, not much prospect of getting away much in the coming months

i think we should pay the same all year as this is a members club i dont think its fair that people with children should have to pay rip of prices when its half term or ther summer holidays i am semi retired it makes no odds to me but i think its very unfair

bassett.Well there's the problem bassett - there are a few on here who complain that the club is too member friendly or, at least, not commercialised enough. They want the club to go down the Haven/Sandy Balls route of offering great deals out of season, subsidised
by sky high prices during school holidays. Yes, the club does increase its prices, but not by anything like as much as those sites!(BTW, which of Wiltshire's many "Bassett's" are you from?)

It is disappointing how various governments have spoken about foreign holiday companies charging higher prices over the school holidays and yet nothing is said about UK prices.
We dont have children however I have to take school holidays (not a teacher).

I think the Easter school holiday is from 4th April this year which is "outside" peak prices?
Not all areas ours start on 24th March.

It sounds like there are some good plans in place.
Just to let you know we still have availability on many Club Sites. To quickly check what's available use our
UK Sites Booking search. Don't forget The Club's fantastic CL network too. My colleague Sandie, started a discussion regarding
Easter Availability for CL Sites that might be helpful.I'm not surprised charging high season rate at that time of the year, you'll be lucky if the sites down Cornwall are half full with those rates.
We'll be away for two weeks but not on a caravan club site.

West Country sites have always been under used except for about six weeks of summer,
some friends of ours use a couple of sites in France that are only open for July and August each year
Exactly, so why not charge low season and get more members using them.
