Security!
Not quite sure if this is the right section so will understand if re-booted!
But my close friend has just introduced me to a new level of security!
I keep my caravan at his house. - We were both in the job together, and as a result know each other very well. He has a large bungalow in a rural setting with quite large grounds. We used to keep our caravans in his paddock but it was a bit of a disadvantage because the field was often waterlogged. So he recently had a new area cleared in the grounds of the bungalow, but away from the house. The new area has a very tightly crushed stone surface, and allows us easy access to our respective caravans which are concealed behind stout angle iron and wooden gates, plus a horizontal barrier. We are both fanatical about security and recently had camera surveillance added.
Anyway Yesterday I went out to the caravan to wake it up from its winter slumbers and saw my mate in the garden. He asked if I had my mobile phone with me and when I confirmed that I did, he said lets borrow it a mo, and I handed it over. He went in the house for a moment and then re-appeared grinning broadly and handed the phone back to me saying. Now you can check onthe security of your caravan from wherever you are and whatever the time of night or day.
He had downloaded a new "Swannview" app which Gave a clear picture of both caravans not only by night but also using infrared by night too. Its fantastic.
Tried it last night at about midnight. very clear view of the van and surrounding area. The activities of the rabbits needed the issuing of a red card though!

Yes these apps are very useful, we use one on a camera linked to our home broadband. It allows us to check the interior of the house if the alarm phones us. Useful as when away for a prolonged period, spiders can cause false alarms. If you pay extra you can also get it to upload the picture, when movement triggers it, to the cloud, for later retrieval.

Not really surprised, TF, Its only money to some folks ! my Motor is parked outside my home, where I can see it, But lots of folk reckon " Why Should WE worry ??, Insurance company will cough up won't they ??". Even
tho' they may be wrong on that.0 -
TF, my son in law set up a similar system with a camera in his front porch sending him an e.mail picture to his phone, warning him of anyone entering that porch while he is out at work. On the first day he got 15 e.mails of the cat going in and out through

Same here, for the house, it provides superb peace of mind when away, particularly if a very observant scrote should notice my caravan is missing from my compound.
if we are away not in the van, I can access an external camera that can see the caravan, but its theft wouldn't trigger the house system to alert me. I thought about a sensor on the gates but imagined it would generate false alerts so didn't bother.
But if it was stolen, i wouldn't want it back.
The house is different

Understood! But there have been several thefts of fairly new "family sized" vans in our area in recent years, especially twin axle vans. So my mate is a bit of a fanatic when it comes to security. His 2015 model is a bit of a target hence his precautions!
My twin bunked Coachman is less of a risk but i am more than happy to shelter under his cover!I stress this is a live system, running on a loop recording. The picture that I get on my phone is live so that I can see people moving in the surrounding arae and also the flashing red alarm warning light on the side of his van at night!
As I said security standards have moved on!

Write your comments here...Hi TF. Do I need to be concerned about the thefts you have mentioned, is this a recent occurrence? Good to see you posting again.

Write your comments here...Thanks TF, just had ours back from a front end rebuild, under warranty, due to a significant leak across the window hindge channel. Nothing booked until June but hope to get away sooner.
