Until a week or so ago I was not aware that an addditional crossing east of Dartford was actually being considered. Highways England have issued a consultation document of their preferred route which might be of interest as the Dartford Crossing comes up
for much discussion on this forum! The document can be seen here  Looking
at the plans the road will exit onto the M2 rather than the M20 which is perhaps not so good for those using the Tunnel. Hope its of interest.

David, you've obviously had the same email we received today from the people who operate the Dartford crossing tolls.  At least those using the existing toll crossing are being consulted.

May  I  suggest  that  they  put  a  nice  big  cable  duct  under  the  hard  shoulder  of  the  Clockwise  M20,  insert  a  Super  Strength  hawser,  pull  it  very  very  tight,  throttle  the  entire  Great  Wen,  ---  then  start  again  &  do  it
    properly  this  time  !!

I generally go the A2/M2 when travelling south to the Tunnel in any case as we stay overnight at Black Horse Farm. Regards, Roy

We too are invited to comment on the consultation. I have to admit that I am in favour of it given I travel to Essex regularly to see family and friends and it would cut at least an hour off my journey however, I do feel for those people whose lives will
be disrupted by the building and eventual use of another crossing. It must be quite an anxious time for them however, no doubt, the Big Boys will win out - it's actually only a matter of time consultation or no consultation.

Not a route we have used a lot but when we have it was a nightmare and as far as I can see it is badly needing more capacity.

I lived in Thurrock for 50 years , and have family that still do , there is not a week that goes by when the complete area is not gridlocked , tunnel or bridge closures cause chaos !

Housing expansion both sides of the crossing will add to the mayhem building another crossing in Thurrock is not the answer Lakeside , blue water the New development at Ebsfleet .... God help us !
