Biggarmac and Tammygirl what models do you have, is it the Wayfarer? We tried that one on our visit to them and looked at the larger models but was a bit concerned about the weight and size.

Yes DK its the Wayfarer, the folding bike with 20" wheels, we tried the full sized bike and liked it but as we already had full bikes at that time we were looking for something lighter that would also fold and fit into the car aswell as being able to go on the back of the motorhome. As I said earlier we are quite happy with them, we've fitted a locking box on the back rack which takes the helmets, so when out and about we can pop the helmets in and they are secure, the boxes also take a fair bit of shopping Wink we use the bikes all the time when we are away, great for going to the shops and comfortable enough for going for a longer ride.

I'm more than a bit concerned that it seems acceptable to have folk whizzing around our Club's sites on powered machinery with no insurance to cover the inevitable. I now see the wisdom in the notices on some parts of some sites, but surely it should apply
across the whole of all sites. It will be no less painful or disabling to be struck by a powered bicycle machine away from the toilet block.

We have ridden our bikes on many CC and other sites, they go no faster than an ordinary bike when ridden at the clubs 5mph ruleWink do ordinary
none mechanised bike owners carry third party insurance (we do by the way)

Just insured my new Pro rider bike with my house insurance at no extra cost - BUT - and its a big but they do not insure for third party events.  I will now have to look to see if I have any other insurance which covers me for this.  Anyone else come across this problem?

We have ours covered by the house insurance, which covers the bikes against theft as long as they are secured to an immoverable object when outside and when secured in a garage or shed. We took out third party cover for going abroad, having lived in Germany for 20 years we know from experiance how much it can cost you if you have an accident, even if its just the bike falling over against a car for instance. I think it cost somewhere in the region of £70 for the 2 of use for a year, small price to pay for the amount of cover we have.

I have not used my bike yet.  I got a full sized one that goes into my garage. Thanks for the advice on insurance.  My house insurance has almost a year to run so extra insurance is probably the way to go.
