We shan't get too hung about prices, it will be something we want to do. If we can afford it, great we will do it. If we can't, then, there will be plan B, and C.

But we wil be fine, we always are!

Just to clarify and to bring some balance to this thread.  We are retired but due to commintments we can only take our longer holidays during school holidays.  Going abroad at this time is not cheap.  Red Pennant and Ferry costs are over £530 before we even turn a wheel.  Campsites until the end of August will be anywhere between 25 and 40 euros/night!  Please don't let anyone run away with the idea it's significantly cheaper than staying on UK sites, after all I can stay on CL's for 5 weeks approx £525.  I reckon our 5 week trip will cost over £1800 before spending money/socialising etc. By the time we get home I estimate we will have spent nearly £3k and  I don't think thats particularly cheap but I don't begrudge a penny of it.  Just hope the weathers goodHappyCool

...Thats just what i was trying to put across, its not cheap in the peak for longer stays let alone the two week holiday,I was at work when we did with the sprogs, but its maybe cheaper , if you want to find you own way, but for us,I had enough stress at work so we wanted to relax, without any uncertanty InnocentCool

It costs less in 2016 for us to cross the Channel than it did back in 1999.

Unfortunately prices have risen quite a bit since the lowest (for us) point in 2013.

I go abroad to get away from Club sites and CLs - with all their petty restrictions - whether awnings are allowed or not, and the same with tents, whether my friends are allowed to be next to me provided they come at the same time as I do and if they have
the right membership card,  whether the caravan must face this way or that, whether cars can go this side of the caravan or that,  how close I must be to the correctly coloured peg, remembering that six metre spacing must be obeyed, and that arrival and departure
times are set down in stone and queuing at the gate is frowned upon, as is cycling he wrong way round the one way circuit, and that everyone on site must go to bed at 8pm.

    I go abroad for freedom.

I don't think you can use Club Sites as a very good overall comparison ET. I have some empathy with what you say regarding Club Sites, as we do find them very rule bound, restrictive and micro managed. But I can also see that part of this is down to their
very success, and the fact that a lot of them are now on the old side and struggling to maintain the same standards that visitors expect. Larger units, more visitors, more H and S regulations. A lot have to be micro managed to remain fit for purpose, open
for business, especially the larger, very popular sites. A lot of members like this, it represents a known, nothing wrong with this. CLs though? Can't agree with you there. We have come across the odd one or two, where everything "club" is how they work. But
generally they are much more relaxed, far fewer micro issues to adhere to when using them.

Was it Easter? If looks busy. We were there in September and there was plenty of room then. That's actually not the best view of the site, AD. It's far nicer than that pic suggests.

Never heard of it, although a Club Site looking at signage on right. South East possibly? Are those vans actually pitched up for long stays, or is it a site where vans overnight for Ferries? Just curious, off our list to visit if they are proper pitches.

Just had a look. Does look a nicer site than your photo indicates, probably very nice when not so busy. Reviews are mixed, but mainly moans about age of loos. We like all grass sites, so back on our list of possibles if in area. Haven't checked prices though!

Because I live in world where I have nothing better to do than take unflattering pictures of caravan sites or it could be that we take photos everywhere we go. Sticking Tongue Out

We use it for  its position but if you think its so great take your holidays there

Yes, that's what I thought. Thanks for confirming.
