......would your motorhome be up for sale by any chance?".

About once a month during the past year cheery callers have knocked at my door to enquire 'on the offchance'. In the past four weeks I've had three such hopeful chancers.

Are motorhomes in short supply? Or is it more likely that they're hoping the recent grotty weather will have put me off having a motorhome which they will kindly help me dispose of for a pittance?

    Our friends who have a caravan on the front of their house had that last year,it had not been used for a while (illness) ,their son gave it a good clean,and the "visits" stoppedUndecided

    No but after so many flyng hours, it disintegrated due to lack of maintenance and dumped him in the ocean!

    Wink , I'm contemplating an 'upgrade 'Husky.My classic 'Autocruise Sunningdale' plus Smart will be available soon.That's if the dealer won't give
    my what i want ! ! Undecided.

    Daft as it may seem I haven't locked my Vctorian house in 32 years on the basis that the laptop is my only valuable item, and apart from a very large (40kg) Lizard granite rock in my fireplace I've nothing indoors that I value that's desirable to a burglar.
    A ten years old telly, 25 years old furniture and Gromit slippers are worthless to resell.

    Mind you, my motorhome is securely protected and blocked in my narrow and walled drive by my son's alarmed caravan, dinghy with clamped trailer, as well as chain and ground anchor points for my treasured classic motorbikes in the garage. We single chaps can
    indulge our priorities!!

    I was in Peterborough a couple of years ago and parked my outift on a municipal car park when a white van pulled up and the driver remarked, "Tatts a luvvvely caravan you've got there, t'be shurrr". Needless to say, I moved car and caravan into a position where no-one could unhitch while I was in town. We 'foreigeners' don't have such things as hitchlocks, etc. He must have taken note of that.

    I would be wary of anyone just turning up. My feeling is they want to check it out to establish if it is worth stealing and what the security actualy is.

    Agree with posts.  Being approached re sale of unit should be viewed as 'odd' & great care should be taken regarding this type of question.
