New motorhomers 12 volt cooler box advice please
Hi everyone, we have just purchased our first motorhome a Swift Sundance and have yet to pick it up to start our adventures.
Can anyone advise us which 12 volt cooler box to purchase please? We have to purchase lots of stuff so any advice is welcome, thanks

Hope you enjoy your new motorhome. I'm a little bit puzzled as to why you need a cooler box, your Sundance should come with a decent size fridge. However, if you know you will need more cold storage, then depending what and how much you will need to store,
you may need to decide between a cool box or a proper portable fridge. The former keep contents up to approx 18 degrees c below ambient, the latter can be set to maintain normal fridge (or even freezer) temperatures. The Waeco/Dometic range contain both
types, but are not the cheapest. It comes down to if you want serious cooling for perishables, or if you only want to keep some extra beers chilled. Be aware though that all 12v cool boxes and fridges are heavy on electricity, and generally not especially quiet.

When we caravanned we used a Halford 12v cooler which was fine for salad, fruit and drinks. It also have a 230v transformer so it could be run off the mains. Almost certainly you would need to use it outside as the are noisy which can present other issues
if only staying overnight somewhere.David

We do exactly the same in our MH, David. Ideal for keeping boxed wine chilled.

I can only support what others have said, get a 12/230V one, they are invaluable for keeping beer & water cool, particularly when abroad. Incidentally I never run mine at night, they are just a little to loud.

Hi We also needed more fridge space and after a lot of research bought a Dometic 3 way box/fridge, if set on the highest setting it keeps our food very cold and some frozen for a few days, I also put frozen blocks in there if there's space which seems to
help We keep it in the garage which is directly under our bed and have never heard a sound from it .... Good luck I hope you enjoy your new Motorhome0
