Insurance
As a newbie, I am looking for recommendations for insurance on a 2016 pursuit 430.
I have done quote on CC site and have 380 & 452 for standard and super respectively.
I have also had 267 from a comparison website (compare-caravan-insurance.co.uk) from companies called AmTrust Europe and Commercial Express.
Who are people using please?

my motorhome I had in my previous life was insured with caravan guard ,you can get discounts with them too ,for being a member of this club ,signing up to their newsletter ,we got discount as my ex is a trucker ,not sure if some of them were just first year
or not as I'm not insure my camper with them as they not insure you if you are parked on the road and the caravan club wont insure me either as they not insure you if you use your camper to commute to work0 -

I use the Caravan Club but no point in having the Super Cover for a new van as this gives new for old up to 10yrs old. The standard gives new for old up to 5 years anyway.

I don't know if you qualify but I use Saga which is Defaqto 5* rated but was about half the price of the Club insurance on a new Bailey Barcelona - although European cover is not standard and has to be added as and when required. I have been through the
fine print and Saga seems to be identical to CC Insurance in terms of cover but I accept that the only test of an insurance company is when you are unfortunate enough to have to make a claim. That said, Saga is a reputable organisation and I would have thought

I use the Caravan Club insurance. Unfortunately I had to make a claim when our previous caravan was stolen. The Club dealt with the whole matter very sensitively and I had no problems at all with the whole process. My claim was met fully and without quibble. Absolutely first class service.
The folk who had their caravan stolen at the same time as ours had a lot of trouble and stress with their insurance company. I don't know if their claim was met in full, but they had to provide photographic evidence and had to have a two hour interview with the loss adjuster because of the insistence of their insurers.

The club policy gives wider cover than any other policy I have seen except the C &CC one. The service is as good as you will get and the settlements generally fair.
The policy is expensive though so you basically have to decide what you want and the risks you want to take.
Commercial Express is a broker and I was unable to open the policy on their website to see who the insurer was or the limits of the cover.
Amtrust is an American company who the C&CC use on their scheme. I did look up the Ombudsman website and they do seem to have a fairly high level of complaints found in favour of the complainer. If you use them I would do it through the other club.
Caravan Guard also referred to here use RSA who are a good reputable company. Others I would consider are NFU & SAGA.
With insurance as in most things in life cutting costs might mean cutting cover or service.

Thanks for that wildwood, I have had a quote now from caravan guard that has come in about 100 cheaper than CC policy.
I understand the adage of you get what you pay for so it's not all about the price but when two reputable firms have that much difference then it's good for thought.
I will try saga though as I honestly wouldn't have thought about them because I did genuinely think it would be an over 50s thing.

they were reliable.Unfortunatly we have just had reason to test the service of Saga having had a kind Italian use our van as a brake writing it off and damaging the car, just south of Rome, I'm pleased to say they have been great, it has taken 4 weeks but they brought both
caravan and car home and paid £500 towards our return travel costs [£1000] have arranged for repairs to the car, written off the van and today agreed what I consider to be a fair value. Although will still be out of pocket [ £500 travel, £250 car excess and
£100 caravan excess ] they intend to pursue his insurers to recover these costs for us, so I must say I'm happy with the service they have provided0 -
I hadn't thought of saga either, it came as a bit of a shock when I remembered I'm actually 51 ( still feel 21) I have also had a really competitive quote from them.

I've just swapped from Saga to Coast(Zurich) - 17% cheaper.

Caravanguard, always comes in for us cheaper the the Club, whe the van disappeared in the night years ago, they arranged a brand new van from our local dealer in four days.
I did look at caravan guard and there was a small saving against the club but they wanted a hitchlock fitting which would have cost the difference so not worth it.
I did hear from Coast but they were so cheap at half the price it was too cheap for me. I did settle for the C&CC which gives the same cover as the club but far cheaper for me.
