12v or 240v? Just buy whatever you fancy in the shops. 22"? I hope you've got plenty of room for it.Cool

Ours is 22".  It's a normal TV - we got it from Tesco, but it is a mains TV.   It doesn't make much difference for us - we always use EHU.

We were lucky, Aldi had a 12/230 volt tv/DVD for sale at £100 with a 3 year warranty. Can't fault it. Don't know when they will have this offer again I am afraid.

Ours is a combo.  Useful for when there is no signal or for when you fancy a film etc.

david. we used to have a 22" Tesco with dvd (in fact, we had two of them....we got a second one for the bedroom) and they were great. but mains only.....we really needed a 12v set, but most of the high street stores dont do them these days.

our new van came with a 19" 12v set built in (in a hidden slot...) and we had a second 12v 16" tv (Cello Traveller) fitted in the bedroom.

if the OP is considering camping 'off grid' (some CLs, temp hol sites, aires in france etc, etc.....) then it might be worth seeking out a 12v set.....

We decided on the Avtex 21.5 inch Combi which is 12/230v Apart from an excellent picture it has the advantage, to us, of having a built in satelite reciever which works seamlessly with our automatic dish. If you don't need the 12v or the combi/satellite
tuner aspect I would be inclined to look for something like
    this
We had a slightly smaller Samsung in a previous caravan and are still using it at home.

    For info....

Sky subscribers, who wish to take their home package with them, will need to either take their home box or pair their home card with a second (permanent) nox in their van.

tv with built in sat tuners are for receiving the 'freesat' range of channels....the 'premium' channels (sports, movies etc) require a sky box (and appropriate viewing card) to receive them.

If  you are like us. ie wife insists we go to a site where there is  a power station on site

Then a good quality set  from the likes of Curry's rtc  with freesat and free view .will more then suffice

Or buy a 12 v to 250 Volt, 250w inverter from say Maplins

Once you have an inverter  you don't have  to limit  yourself to a small range of expensive  small televisions.  with a mediocre picture  If you have spare TV you could even use that

We have a 27 inch Full HD TV, easily fits inside our Caravan

again, for sky subscribers, unless you have a very old 'javelin' box, all other sky boxes are mains only.

we have an inverter (in fact, two) which runs the sky box when off grid.

We don't have Sky so that is not an issue for us but one reason for having a TV with built in Freesat FTA satellite receiver is that it is a neat solution as you have no other gubbins to contend with. Unlike the situation when we had a separate receiver.

i mention Sky as the 'satellite' situation can be confusing for some, who sometimes refer to sat tv as 'Sky' and might expect to receive 'sky' channels with a tv set with inbuilt tuners.

whether some sets will become available with a proper 'sky' tuner some day, i dont know....

I agree with David about the Samsung 22" smart tv except the stand is a strange design which did not allow me to balance the TV on top of a Humax pvr. Managed to replace it with a monitor stand that solved the problem.

We bought a Finlux TV/DVD from either ebay or amazon.  It works on either 240v or 12v and has served us well for 18months.  Sound and Picture are both acceptable and price was much better than caravan specific stores.  I think we paid about £120 but it my
be slightly smaller than 22 inch I cannot remember.

We are currently in Salamanca Spain and getting some British channels on freesat with an 85cm dish, no BBC/ITV  of course.

Pretty much the same TV as Avtex but cheaperWink

I've had both, the Cello is a very poor second to the Avtex in sound and picture quality. The old saying you get what you pay for is invariably true.

..Never had an Avtex, but read lots of reviews and looked at them at the shows, we have no complaints with the cello.

We have a Panasonic which came from Tesco but more or less anything you like will work. Do keep the packaging though as this helps protect the set when travelling.

Be aware as I didn't  nearly all tv's now have a usb port BUT not all will recognize or play films saved to memory stick.            I came unstuck saved a load of films to memory stick and can't play them on the caravan tv

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4296511.htm

it was on special for £99 a couple of weeks back so keep an eye out. For a bush ive been impressed with the screen, very nice and ideal for a caravan.

We have found that you sometimes have to record the programmes you want using the TV you intend to play them back on if that makes any sense. We record lots on a portable hard drive using our Cello, we can play them back on our Tesco one and visa versa but
they are a differant file format, if we use a memory stick they don't always work between the 2 TV's
