We really like the corelle plates and dishes, but not so keen on the mugs - the mugs are not actually the unbreakable corelle.  We prefer our special mugs:

One more tip, we buy most of our caravan cockery and glasses from charity shops. That way, if they do get broken or chipped, they haven't cost us a fortune.

When I was buying things for the caravan, I bought some silicone rectangular tubs from somewhere like B&M/Home and Bargains. About 30x20x15cm. Wish I could remmeber where, as I would like some more! They fit the overhead lockers perfectly. Anyway, we put
food in them and leave them in the cupboard. They don't slide around, and cans etc. don't fall out, as there is a large lip on the basket. I also have various plastic tubs for rice, pasta etc. in case of spillage. Someone said olive oil can explode in winter(!),
so that is always in a plastic tub too. Easier to lift stuff out of overhead cupboards too. Just need to find a solution to sort out the glasses/mugs/awkward shaped stuff cupboard. Oh, and for saucepans, Sainsbury's had some very light 'normal' saucepans,
which have been great so far.

Our package of Corelle has just arrived from Amazon.  We did not unpack it as it is obviously far too heavy.  We will continue with the melamine for now.

Write your comments here... That is a surprise Qashqai as Pippah in a very early post was extolling how light it is. Perhaps you have a large amount in your box. I was looking to use Corelle which I understand can be used in a microwave. At present we make
do with fairly thin crockery and will now probably stick with it.

What we had ordered was a set of four so not very much.  I did not actually weigh it but it was suffciently heavy for us not to even consider stowing it in the overhead kitchen locker.  We wondered about keeping it in the box and stowing it under a bunk
for travel but then it means that there is another packing job to do every time we move on.

What a shame.  You must be disappointed.  It kind of defeats the object doesn't it.

Yes, disappointing.  In fact my wife says I am fussy about the 12 year old melamine which she thinks is perfectly adequate.  We use china mugs for tea and coffee as melamine mugs really are rather nasty.  When the melamine gets beyond use I think we will
get some of the bamboo.  John Lewis has a good set reduced to £22 at present.

Tend to agree that the melamine isn't particularly attractive but we find it adequate and are loathe to bin it but, like you, we only use china beakers.

Some  time  back  in  the  distant  past,  I  asked  the  first  part  of  the  OP  &  the  general  reply   was  similar  to  this  thread  BUT  I  was  also  advised  to  find and  fit a  Fiddle  Rail  to  cupboards  in  order  to  stop  things  leaping
    out  at  me.

They  are  a  pair  of  length  adjustable, spring loaded,  concentric  rods  of  various  lengths,  4 pairs  of  them,  different  lengths  to  suit
my  needs,  and  either  my  drivings  getting  Smoooooother,  or  the  little  darlings  are  doing  their  jobs  OK  !!

I  can  be  more  precise  when  I  get  Home  from  the  N E C  next  month ! ( Memory  aint  what  it  used  to  be  )

When we bought our set I thought the box was heavy, the mugs are normal China, but the plates and bowls are lighter.

Much prefer using it, rather than the melamine.

as was being mentioned in another thread....do the designers actually use these vans?..

...is they did then (as alluded to above) they would provide safe, secure, low down storage in their beutifully designed MH/caravan kitchens?

most uk MH (and im guessing caravans, too) dont have decent under kitchen storage, bcause thats where the obligatory oven and small fridge usually go.....

...so where is one supposed to put the larger/heavier stuff like crockery, plates, cups, bowls, and pans, and tinned goods and cereal boxes, and condiments and sauces, and your kettle(s) (electric and hob), teapot and filter jug and waste bin....etc, etc...

presumeably, where you dont want them....

...under beds and seats?  (have to move them all to the kitchen before you can use them...)

....in overhead lockers (just waiting to crown you)

.....or in the car if you dont want to take the riskUndecided

why not fit decent deep, large, drawers with moveable dividers just like the ones in most folk have in their home kitchens.....ideally, with a (central) locking mechanism....

why, eshew drawers that give great storage and easy access and put in shelves....(have you noticed that all the stuff is always at the back where you cant reach it) ......accessed by a cupboard door (have you noticed how its always a right pain to open when
    you're standing in the gangway...).....

....and worse, when there is one 'drawer' about 2" deep (that holds next to nothing) but you still have to open the 'cupboard door' that covers it in order to open the drawer a few inches.....

answer.....because its miles cheaper.... Undecided....and designers dont use the things they 'design'.....Sad

We have Correlle, 4 dinner plates and side plates 4 bowls, they sit in a rack in a top cupboard,  IMO they are much better than using melamine, (which we did use for years) really tough, can be used in the microwave and light. Never heard of them until someone
    mentioned them on CT.
