A couple of us have been chatting and reckon Ferry Meadows CC site would make a good New Year venue.  There is plenty going on nearby should the party get a little tedious.  I've booked for about the maximum stay on the grounds that I can always reduce it
a bit but as the site is known to fill up for the Christmas/New Year period it is better to get one's booking in early rather than try later and find it's full.

Been too busy to log in recently, cleaning in preparation for meeting with prospective, maybe, in laws. Now all I've got is boiler service Monday, man to clean slate floors Tuesday, friends arriving wednesday, NEC all day Thursday and Friday its my birthday
and I'm off on the boat for a week Relaxing on the Ashby canal, no locks, plenty of gin.

But I have managed to book in for New Year, almost looking forward to winter as we had such a good time welcoming in 2016.

    And suddenly it's October!

Just returned from Uttoxeter with Pippa, had a lovely few days and we were talking about New Year. When I was at FM in September I got the timetable for the Nene Valley Railway, they will be running trains over the holidays, perhaps we could book for a lunch
    or afternoon tea?

Also is everyone still up for a Murder Mystery om NY's Eve? If so I'll order one from Amazon.

On another subject when I got home I washed the van and found a crack in the top corner of the rear panel, had a look online and I see Elddis have had a few of these reported I will ring the dealer in the morning and see what happens.

That's a great idea.  I have been looking at the meal on a train thing myself but couldn't figure out if it would be available or not. I reckon that if people are up for it we ought to book as soon as possible 'cos I wouldn't mind betting they get booked up pretty quickly. The 'Murder Mystery Dinner Party' is something I've been looking forward to ever since it was mentioned. I'm certainly all for it.

Slightly different subject,  Is everyone doing the full eight day thing or are people going to cut back on the length of the meet?  I know I have booked 27th to 4th Jan cos I reckon with Peterborough so close I'm sure there is plenty going on to keep us entertained but I don't fancy being stuck there on my own if everyone else cuts it short.

Hope you get some joy from Elddis. Good luck

Yes, not sure I'll stay until the 4th, will have to think about it. I will definitely be there on the 27th as I am taking the caravan to the prospective in-laws for Christmas and think I can last until the 27th and as they are half way to Peterborough it
is quite handy. I'll give the railway a ring and get more info. The order for the Murder mystery has gone in, I will let you all know your characters and hope you all come appropriately attired.

there is still one place left, if anyone wants to join us.

the van goes in on the 27th, we will see what happens.

I am up for the train and meal at some point.  Not certain of the whole stay dates at present somewhat depends on daughter!  But with the 72 hour thing there is plenty of time.

Unfortunately, I am having to pull out of the trip due to family matters  Sad ...... so sorry  Sad

Hope to catch up with you all somewhere soon.  Still time this year if anyone has anything planned?  Or early next year?

And then there were four.  Such a shame Jane can't make it but I don't think there is any chance of topping up numbers as the site is full for the New Year period 29th to 31st.  Something else I was looking at is a panto.  There are two on in Peterborough,
Peter Pan and Dick Whittington, both are going on into the new year.  Does anyone else fancy a bit of traditional Entertainment?  Yes I know they are meant to be for kids but I'm a lot younger at heart than I look on the outside.

Thanks for the thought Martin but Trewethett Farm is a bit too far to travel from Lincoln for just a weekend.  It's a shame because it would have been good to catch up with you again.  Hope you enjoy it Smile

Just trying to see what happens when one adds a post on an existing thread.  Does it bring the thread forward?
