    For Rowena

Please print off the comments made on CT and place them on the chairman's desk tomorrow. Hopefully he will apologise and then resign. All the man can seemingly do is make CC members, who provide the money for the CC and keep him
in the job, a laughing stock. What an idiot.

An appaling representation of the membership. We go away in the van to enjoy life in the countyside and see new or interesting places, not to pratt about cleaning and manouvering or sorting underwear in cupboards. Shameful programme, and as to the idiot who damaged his caravan on the slope was it sensible do do that manouver ? No not to an experienced caravanner..... and he is the CEO / chairman dear god ... shocked beyond belief !!!!!!

We are delighted to announce that our ‘Caravanner of the Year’ competition was filmed by the BBC and will be on
    BBC2 on 20 and 27 April!

We hope it gets you in the mood for getting out there and enjoying the summer season on our wonderful sites network.

The enthusiasts were faced with a variety of challenges covering activities such as manoeuvring, navigation, hospitality and caravanning knowledge.  There was also the precision challenge of the Concours D’Elegance which demanded much polishing and primping
    of their vehicles!

The first programme will introduce the entrants and whittle them down to the three finalists.

Tune in and watch, and don’t forget to tell your friends and family about it too!

    Follow us on Twitter
    @CaravanClubCOTY
    and like our Facebook page
    Caravanner of the Year
and don’t forget to use the hashtag!
    #caravanclubCOTY

    1. Can't believe you are delighted to announce the load of rubbish I have just seen did the Club agree to this?

    2. It didn't get me in the mood at all and probably put a lot of people off especially if you end up next to one of the idiots who can't even reverse their caravan.

    3. I'm glad I didn't tell my friends and family about it and quite frankly will be praying tonight that none of them saw it.

    4. I hope it gets cancelled next week

We as CC members have the right to complain!  We as quoted above, provide the money for the club.

how about we ring to complain tomorrow? That will jam the switch board up all day!

Copy of my communication to the Caravan Club:-

Re the BBC program  Caravaner of The Year:  What a travesty. I suggest you all take time to read the comments on Club Together. This program has made a laughing stock of the whole caravanning community. Are we meant to believe that those hapless six
couples were representative of the best caravaners?  The Chairman and Executive Committee seem to have managed our affairs rather badly and allowed The Club, and caravaners in general, to be brought into disrepute. I call for their resignation.

I know that TV presenters will always try to present sensational or humourous aspects of any subject such as our hobby of caravanning.  However, I have to agree with the majority of comments above that this programme was nothing but a huge PR disaster for
the Caravan Club.  HOW EXTREMELY EMBARRASING TO ALL MEMBERS.  Sorry Grenville but this was not yours' or the Club's finest moment.

What I want to know is 1. How did they all manage to get hard standing pitches, and with empty pitches opposite, did they all arrive before12am? 2. How did they all manage to pitch together, did someone run in before booking in time and save a space? 3. Why
didn't the wardens reprimand them for cleaning the caravan on site? Don't worry that it was a total embarrassment and that no one will now ever want to join the CC, they will just all think there are plenty of hard standing pitches available and you can just
pull in where you want to. Biggest load of rubbish ever!

Do we get a vote for the chairman at the AGM. If we do then any chairman who sanctioned this rubbish will not get my vote. After embarrasing himself by ruining a caravan in trying to drive up a slope like that and using white gloves to inspect the vans he
now needs to resign immediately. This program has done more damage to the great pastime of caravanning than the whole series of  Top Gear. I will definitely not be watching the next programme.

That programme was disgusting. I have been a caravanner for nearly 30 years and I spend my professional life promoting and teaching road safety and examine advanced driving for ROSPA.

The caravan club chairman has shown himself in a totally irresponsible and immature light along with his so called motor home expert.

I will completely distance myself from anything to do with the club now if that is what it is about.

If he was appointed chairman what does that day about the people who appointed him.

    DISGUSTING!

Copy of my separate email to the club:

Just wanted to let you know that the program I have just cringed my way through was a total embarrassment for all caravan club members. Have you seen the comments on the discussions?

Whoever decided that was a good idea is an idiot - to watch the CEO rip the back off a caravan towing it up a completely inappropriate hill was ridiculous and only adds to the opinions of most non caravaners that we are not responsible road users.

I think you seriously need to think about how you can repair the damage this has done to the clubs reputation and how you have made your members feel!!!!!

What a joke !!!!! One member on the discussions asked if we had gone back in time to April Fools Day!!!!!

Well there you go. Another program about caravans that is deliberately designed to paint it in a bad light - only this one is endorsed, sanctioned by and starring the Caravan Club. I've got to say however I'm not entirely surprised. All those involved should
be ashamed of themselves as all this program acheives is to reinforce the stereotyping we all put up with.

I thought it was great, not from a 'quality programme' perspective but for complete laughter. I must be the only person that got exactly what they expected. The beginning was cringeworthy mind-A Hi-De-Hi set complete with tannoyed Gladys PughLaughing.
That anal list making couple, the Lady was a good driver & good fun, She laughed at Herself quite happily. Roll on next weekHappy

Am I correct to assume that the Club paid for the repairs to his van - i.e my membership and pitch fees?  Would a Freedom of Information Request to the Club get that answered?

You are absolutely right in what you say, Rocky. It was comedy of the year. The competitors were case studies in themselves.
    Happy

However, as a shop window for CC, it was a disaster and complete farce.

At least we now know why so many of the complaints and problems posted on this forum are ignored or go unaswered, if that is the mark of our Chairman, where in his words "the buck stops here". Does he read our posts, I don't think he contributes????
