     Oh I see now, being Chairman makes you one of the best 6 caravanners in the club irrespective of your competence. As I said earlier, just making the club look a laughing stock. Do you think he was on a backhander from JC or Gregorys?

    The way Grenville Chamberlain's van got damaged was that, before they finalised the 'tasks' for the contestants, the judges tried the tasks first to check to make sure they were doable.  It appears that particular task was not doable!

    Everyone in the Caravan Club had the choice of entering the competition.  For those who think they could do better, perhaps next year?? Laughing

    Write your comments here...As a moderator, your defense of your chairman  has to be complimented. and expected from someone in your position

    As a mere member, looking at the Video  I think that part of the course was poorly planned and exececuted by someone who hasn't the foggiest idea how to drive an outfit or think anything through properly. Any proper caravanner would know that that particular outfit had no chance of climbing that hill.  I do wonder if it really was his own van he damaged !! .

    I feel quite smug. With an Eriba behind a Freelander I would easily go where the Chairman failed.

    Hopefully the standard of the
    amateur vanners in the competetion will outshine the club hierachy and recover our reputation

    Any tugger with common sense would have properly surveyed the situation and declared "Look, there's a very good chance the backend will ground, watch the rear of the van". Instead it was a gungho full bore attempt followed by some swearing and his own words of a £2000 estimate for a new back end. Is that really the way to check if its 'doable'.Undecided

    Both guys sitting in the car, if it was to check if it was 'doable' then someone should surely be at the back watching for grounding.

    And I bet the club (ie we) pick up the repair bill.

    Not sure why these clips were chosen to be pre-aired (or who chose them) but they don't show the caravan fraternity in a good light. We'll have to wait and see... and not long to wait!

    Maybe the clips were chosen to get everyone to watch in anticipation of things going wrong because someone reversing perfectly wouldn't get the same viewing response.  I hope its not as bad as the clips look, I can make myself look stupid enough without
    the club helping me.

    Wonset if any of his £1000 worth of Wedgwood he was boasting about was damaged. Mrs G will not be happy!!

    It would have to go some to beat "Sunday departures". Digressing briefly, I notice there are a substantial number of "likes" for the 'wardens flexibility' option notwithstanding claims that this was a minority view.

    I think many of us will be watching this one. We are away for the next couple of weeks, so have even set the recorder up to catch the next episode.

    I will be watching, well to start with anyway, my expectations aren't at all high.  The best part will probably be trying to guess which of the contestants post on CTHappy
