    Banner, Varta and Exide have got good reputations.  Numazu batteries and Lucas batteries have identical specs.

    In general for the same Ah rating heavier is better.  But if you don't have a mover and always use ehu then just about any old rubbish will do.

    Numazu?  I thought I had typed Numax.

      Tanya and
    Alpha
     batteries  are good online sources And a local motor factor is probably a better source than a caravan dealer.

    As a note on the side, some years ago in Practical Boat Owner the was a survey done on the cost and performance of normal cranking batteries and leisure batteries, it showed that allthough the leisure battery's lasted longer when compered with price over
    time in service the cranking batteries where better value.

    We have a Banner Energy Bull and it seems to be doing a good job. I did a fair bit of research before buying and they were well regarded. Lots more lead in them than many others.

    Bought from Tayna......

    Unlike most boats we in our caravans don't ask the habitation batteries to crank over diesel engines with their multi hundreds of amps draw off. Movers are likely to be sub 100 Amps and used for somewhat longer duration than a starter cranking a diesel. So Practical Boat Owner's conclusions for a totally different task is unlikely to be of any value in our application.

    Caravan/motorhome battery buyers would be very much better advised to reread the late John Wickersham still excellent Caravan Club article "Power Players", Oct 2010;
