Dirty skylights
My Elddis caravan has vented skylights that are now so dirty they cut out almost all the light. The only way to clean them is to dismantle and use the bath. I would prefer to change the dome but cannot find a supplier. Elddis is not interested in helping!
Anyone know of a supplier ?

DavidF, you could try Caravan Windows, here's a link. You may need to copy and paste it to get it to work. sales@motorhome-parts.net
This is the person I had contact with at that company:-

Why cannot you clean them? Surely even dismantling them to clean is better than and cheaper than buying a replacement? I have no real idea what these look like but I use a ladder to gain access to the roof to clean the skylights fitted to my motorhome.

The inner skin can be cleaned, the subject has been covered on this forum a few times and recently in Motorhome monthly magazine.
I've never tried it myself, but...........
If you look at the last post in the thread below it describes how to do it.....

Peedee- it is designed by an idiot in my opinion. My retailer described them as" crap". Elddis changed them very quickly in subsequent vans but if you have any experience of caravan manufacturers you know that once they've sold a van they want to wash their
hands of them and simple refer you to the dealer.0 -

Write your comments here...Sounds like changing your car when the ashtrays are full!! You need to yes, wash them, remove any scratches with a good compound - Farecla or similar and then give them a good waxing with something like HD wax by Autoglym. (Wax! not a polish) they'll come up like new!
