Awning Piping
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy on line some awning piping to keep the black streaks away and not expensive. I have seen quite a few on different caravans and wondered if there is a difference in the quality and also the colour. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My local dealer wanted around £5.00 a metre for it and it was grey.
Brian.

I am now confused. I looked at this 'awning piping' quite recently and asumed that it is what you sew onto awning fabric and then thread through the awning channel when erecting the awning? (a 'bolt-rope' in yachting parlance).
Now I hear it is 'to keep the black streaks away'. Can someone kindly explain?

By threading the awing piping through your awning rail when the van is not in use diverts the water that, if not there, runs down the side of the van and cause the black streaking from the rubber round the van's window. Works for me.

Put a wanted advert on Freecycle, see if you can pick up an old awning that has come to the end of it's working life. Then simply cut the canvas from the beading. I used the beading from an old awning I had and attach solar LED lights for Christmas decorating.

A second advantage of using this is that it is lubricated I assume with some kind of silicone lubricant. The awning slides on very easily. I suppose it will wear out in time and I'll have to buy a can of that channel lubricant . Your hands do get a bit
messy when you fit it.0
