Hi

Does anyone use a memory foam mattress topper on an island bed?

We have a Bailey Unicorn 3 Vigo with a side island bed which has the most uncomfortable mattress you can think of. Fine for an hot or so then it just sags. There is nothing broken and no slats missing...it's just too saggy for us.

We are thinking about a memory foam mattress topper for the bed but there are complications.

1. It's a curved base on the bed / mattress

2. The top part of the mattress folds so you can push the bed back in day mode.

so we probably want something that is tailor made or can be easily cut.

Any suggestions / recommendations / fellow sympathisers?

Hi Skar, we bought a piece of 2 inch thick memory foam and cut it to the shape of the mattress. We have mattress protector that fits over both and then put a sheet on top. It works for us.

    Cheers, Alex.

    Thanks guys.

Alex, sounds like with a matress protector it will do the job.  Where did you buy the topper, do you remember?

We bought a Duvalay mattress topper. Can't say that it made the bed any more comfortable - it's still too firm.

At the same time we also bought two Duvalay memory foam pillows and they are as hard as rocks. We tend to have them under a regular pillow, just for the extra height.

Not had a need for a Duvalay but if the mattress sags would this really help?

I was hoping it would help.  I need to give it a go before I fork out for a whole new mattress.  I'll try the firmest memory foam topper I can find and hope it does the trick.

    thanks all.

Hi Skar, we got it on Amazon. Just type in memory foam and you'll get lots of choice.

    Cheers, Alex.

Thanks Alex. Must remember, 2 inch thickness not 2cm's!

Write your comments here...We sympathise with your problem.  We have a Venus with transverse fixed bed.  the same shape and size of matress as the Bailey.  We bought a Duvalay topper which makes the bed more comfortable.  However, we don't like the layout
of the van and are going back to a 2 berth.  This means we have a little used - a few weeks - Duvaly topper which you can have for say £75.  I wonder where you live as it is hardly practical for us to post it to you.  I have no idea how I might contact you
as I don't think email addresses and phone numbers are supposed to be put on club together.

    Hi Quashqai

thanks for the offer. If it does not fit can it be cut?

also how thick is it? At least 2inches?

i am in Kent so it may be too inconvenient.

    let me know

    thanks

Hi Skar, I am not sure of the depth but I think it is about 2.5 inches.  If you go to the Duvalay web site you can find exact details.  I have the topper for sale on preloved so I guess you can find it there if you search for Duvlay; you will se a photo
on the ad.  I live in Somerset so we would have to use carriage.  No doubt it can be done for a tenner or so but I have not investigated that.

    Hi Quashqai,

Looking at the pictures on Preloved, its the wrong shape. Our bed is more rounded at the base, the Venus appears to have a fairly flat bottom at the base of the bed.

i'll look on Amazon and EBay to find something more suited.

    Thanks for the offer.
