what opinions has anyone got on the alde smart control.

Has anyone fitted one, does it do what it says on the tin.

To me it seems an un-necessary option.

The system has a daytime and a nighttime temperature switched by the time clock. Unless you plan to turn the heating off when away from the caravan then yes, you could (if you remember) turn it back on before you return. Personally we just leave the heating
on - keeps the whole van comfortable.

We think it is brilliant.  We set the timer for the day and night modes which includes temperatrue setting and leave it at that.  The next time we go out you do not have to worry about setting it up all over again however you need the backup battery installed.

I thought that the Alde Smart Control used a smart phone App to allow you turn heating on and off remotely Surfer?

These functions can be achieved even with the earlier non touch panel, and all setting but the clock are retained without the need for a battery back up. That battery back up retains the time, though setting that single item is IMO not a big challenge.

I have not got the "smart control" and I do struggle to see what its "value" for us might be; in winter we leave things warm, in summer we have no space heating demands.

It is done via Phantom and can only turn the unit on or off.  However if you set the timer no need for this as it is mainly a gimmick.
