Winter covers

Hi, we are new to motorhoming. As winter is coming, we are considering buying a motorhome cover, a full one. I have heard that they can stick to the motorhomes and cause damage. Can anyone tell me if they are a good idea or not and if so what is a good one.

    My view is that having your motorhome covered makes it very likely not to be moved during the winter period. The effort in removing and replacing the cover becomes a hinderance.

    Batteries will have to be maintained and charged, brakes can rust and bind, the clutch plate can stick or become sticky. Tyres can develop flat spots and balanceing or replacing if very bad. Cam belts at the end of their life (3 years ?) can form permanent bends where it sits on the camshaft pullies.

    My advice would be, fill up a vacuum flask with a hot beverage and drive out somewhere (over 20 miles there, to get the engine nice and hot). Enjoy your investment in the winter, The UK can have really nice winter days.

    Only to add, keep your fuel tank full in an attempt to stop water vapour being attracted into the diesel,

    Thank you for your advice and pointers, it all makes sense to keep using it, with an added extra bonus of saving a couple of hundred pounds!  Regards Terry

    I've read many different views on covers on various forums, as I too was thinking about one. The concensus I found was that they were more bother than they were worth so I've never got one.

    Same here, i also decided not to get one as more than not its a bother and can induce problems.

    We are using during winter anyways wont be idle for more than a month id say, so movement and battery top ups etc will suffice.

    Didnt know about the feul tank one, never heard this before.
