Winter storage cover
Can any one give me some advice on buying a storage cover. Just purchased a new coachman and have thought about putting a cover on it over the winter

We bought a cheap and cheerful one from ebay, more than twelve years ago, when we needed to cover our caravan as we'd removed the front window to send off to a company who made replacements.
It's still going strong, with only one or two minor tears where the sharp corners of the awning rail have obviously caught it down near ground level. It was bought from ebay - and there are similar ones available on there now.
You'll get posts supporting covers, and against them, but personally I think ours has considerably extended the damp-free life of our caravan, has protected the paintwork, and best of all the caravan is clean when you remove the cover - no more having to
clean it before you set off on another trip. These days it's still in use - having been used on a windy hill in Yorkshire, in a dusty barn in central France, and now on a very sunny campsite in southern France where it protects the van against the sun's heat and rays.

I would second Valda's comments. Our van takes a lot of weather from North winds and iun the past damp has been a proble, on that corner. May just be coincidence, but our ProTec cover saves a great deal of the driving rain etc, and the van only needs a mild
clean/polish in Spring!0 -
We bought a 'cheap' breathable cover from Towsure and it goes on in Nov/Dec and comes off Feb/Mar time - keeps the worst of the weather off and definitely worth the investment if you don't caravan in winter.
As an aside, we also put the van up on axle stands to save the tyres.

Perhaps another 'use' for storage covers is as a 'disguise'. Any opportunist thief, driving past, may see a lovely new caravan in your drive. If your new caravan is covered there is no indication as to how old it might be! There's also the added hassle, for a thief, of having to get the cover off before the caravan can be towed away. It makes a thief much more visible having to reach up and remove a cover, rather than just crouching by the hitch.
And if it's on axle stands, as above, even more of a deterrent!
