Sat Nav
We want to purchase a sat nav and there are so many out there. We are looking for one which we can put in our rig, caravan and route and then 'it' will tell us the most suitable, safest route to take, or that we won't be able to chose that particular site.
Any advice more than welcome. Many thanks

I think you have to accept that no sat nav is completely foolproof even thise that allow you to enter outfit dimemsions. For years I have used a mid range TomTom to which I added the camper maps (about another £80 although sometimes discounted) I travel all over the UK and Europe and have found it pretty reliable in the routes that it sets. It also has a handy feature that it allows you to review the destination which often where things can go wrong. I have also added a lot of POI's (Points of Interest) which make it easier to find campsites. It makes sense with all sat navs to review the route before setting off so that you are happy with the route.

Simple rule - if there's grass growing down the middle, it's probably not a good idea to tow your van down it.

I tried the Garmin Camper 760 satnav. Given its advertised for caravans/motorhomes I was very disappointed.I set it up with the car/caravan dimensions but it only warned of a potentially unsuitable road when you were going down it rather than before your
turned. Very unimpressed.I have recently bought the Co-Pilot Live France edition for £15 on the Iphone store and it worked really well round France recently and one less gadget to carry.
Ate the end of the day a decent map plus a fairly reliable satnav works for us.
