Awning sizes
Might be a stupid question but here goes: Our caravan takes a 914 awning will it be ok to buy a 925 awning. i.e. will it just be a bit long at the bottom but do the job ok?

Choco, I'm no Awning guru but to get the best help it'd be best to post the name of your C/van & your Awning type. The numbers usually relate to the size in cm's across the horizontal fixing rail on the C/van(it does with my Kampa Awning) give the info &
someone will surely help. Welcome to CT, I wish you luck0 -
Welcome to CT. As I understand it the awning size is measured along the whole length of the awning channel. So if your van is 914 and the awning is 925 there should be 9cm over that's 4.5 at each end or roughly 2 inches in old money. To me that's not too
much so I would give it a go.0 -
The awning for our old van was 911. We recently got a newer van which is 877. Rather than waste money on a new awning, we used the old one and lived with the difference. We''ve never managed to get our awning perfectly taut anyway, so it makes no difference
to us.0 -
Being a complete novice with awnings as we've always had a gazebo, can anyone advise if an Ace Air 500 would fit a 2009 Challenger 570?

We use our awning all the year round and so find it useful to have storm straps and guy ropes which you have to buy as extra but helps to anchor the awning down in windy and storm conditions.

the awning sizes usually quoted by caravan and awning manufacturers is ground to ground, ie, from the ground at the front, through the entire length of the rail and to the ground at the back. You can sometimes get away with a longer awning by rolling up
the skirting but a short awning will get a little drafty!0 -
Just find a small hollow to fit the caravan wheels in. That'll reduce the length required.

either that or take a spade!

I would like to join in here. A new member (yet to collect my van..) I will be the proud owner of a Bailey orion 400/2. I would like to use a Mistral Ripstop - but because of the shape of the van, not sure if it will fit. Anyone out there tried this combo?
thanks
