Hi everyone, can people recommend the best type of caravan steps to buy preferably 2 step set? We recently bought metal ones and they havent lasted 2 months, think they were badly welded togeter as they never snapped they just wobbled from side to side

many thanks Sharon

Yep Milenco MGI giant double about £20 so not even that expensive, very stable and very strong.

Great value , agreed , however I think the lightweight folded Alloy are the best , especially in wet weather

Milenco MGI. We went for the giant size but found them a bit too large & heavy. The large size is perfect and very stable.

I have one of these and agree it is very good. The only thing is I stepped out of the van into the awning in just my socks and ended up an undignified heap on the awning floor. There is now a rubber covered one, which should be better.

We bought a set from the dealers some years ago and they are still going strong. No make on them but they appeared well made when examined.

If they did not last two months take them back if you bought from a retailer, if bought on the net you can try complaining but it is more difficult.

Agree these are the best for us, light, no corrosion possible, the tubes sit on the pitch full length so no risk of digging in (major reason for purchase)

Haven't had the slipping mentioned but try both step coverings and find the one you prefer.

We store ours on pipe clips just inside the door.

An old beer crate with a bit of ply screwed to the top. Wink

We have recently replaced our steps with a set of Milenco MGI giant. We felt they are safer as we are getting a bit older and the extra width helps. As they are black plastic I found it difficult to see the front edge of the step in the dark when coming out
of the van even with the awning light on. So I have put some white non slip tape along it that glows in the dark. It really does make it easy to see now.

As I am nearly always on hard standing I prefer steps with legs rather than a tubed base which caqn be prone to sliding. If the ground is uneven or greatly sloped I can dig out some chippings and level if needed.

I also find the milenco giant step doubles as a good seatLaughing. Use left and right arrows to navigate.
