Hi,

we are new to caravanning and bought a Sprite major 6 last year. The problem we've got is our Numax Leisure battery. We've got 12v 100amp battery which didn't work with our motor mover at the weekend. We've been to halfords and they've tested it, showing  11.8 volts but only reading 8 amps! So basically is it no good and we need to buy a new one? Bearing in mind it's been on charge etc. If so, I think we've been keeping it on charge it too much. You live and your learn don't you.

Can anyone recommend a new battery suitable for a caravan with a motor mover? Thanks

Louise

A 100 amp rating is a decent size however our dealer fits the largest the locker will take which for my Bailey is 110 amp. I have used this on a t/a for 4 years without problem. Mine is a sealed Platinum battery but there are a number of favourite brands which I will leave to others to recommend. I do keep my battery maintained with a smart charger (CTek) which certainly seems to help.

You will get loads of advice about batteries.  With Banner, Varta Bosch often recommended.  Numax are common.  A good a guide as any other is for a given amp hour rating heavier is better.   But it depends what you want to do   If you are always on Ehu and
only use the mover to position to fit the wheel lock. then what would be an adequate battery would be different to some one who is off grid for weeks

Ctek chargers have a good reputation but are expensive, both Lidl and Aldi do chargers with similar functions and output to a Ctek at a fraction of the price.
