Off Road Tyres
Having just had four new off road tyres fitted, I would like to know if anyone here has a similar type of tyre fitted and what the performance of it is like. The tyres I have had fitted are General Grabber Snow Grabb 235/60R18.

I have a pair of General Grabber ATs fitted to a Discovery4 which has always been very quiet from the point of view of tyre noise. For the first 15,000 miles it remained quite but as they have become more worn the tyre noise has increased. On warm days in particular at 60 mph it is becoming tiresome (pardon the pun). I do use my vehicle offroad and the performance and wear is excellent. Whilst my tyres are sightly different to yours I would be interested to hear you experience in due course.

I would not use such specialist tyres unless I lived somewhere that experienced a lot of snow.
Certainly wouldn't be fitting them in July......or probably ever, on the south coast.
Malcolm......the time to ask was before you bought them, not after. Sorry.

My previous tyres were very worn and needed changing, otherwise I would have waited until nearer winter. If I had changed to normal tyres, I wouldn't have got enough wear out of them before winter arrives. Hopefully, I am now prepared for all weather and seasons plus all terrain.
Charmill Cottage CS is open all year. Most of it is a sloping field with no hard standing. In heavy rainfall, the water drains down the hill so that the lower ground where the entry and exit gate is located is subject to flooding. My previous tyres couldn't cope with those conditions. All four wheels used to spin even when the caravan was not attached to the car. It was worse when towing on and off the site.
After Northbrook Farm closes on 7th November, I will need to use the Charmill Cottage CS.

Thank you, Fysherman. It seems that they are excellent quality tyres then.

Write your comments here...I remember having snow when staying on the club site in Gatwick, Triky, around January to February this year, so I think it's best to be prepared.

I thought you were in the South of England not Iceland. Off road, where exactly do you do your deliveries? fields and mountains.
Write your comments here...It's getting the car on and off the field to get to work, that's the problem, cariadon. There's no time to arrange for a tractor to tow you off when an order comes through! Customers are not willing to wait that long!

I have the General Grabber AT2's on the 90 as a road tyre (and the Insa Turbo Tack Edge Special as the off road tyre).
The AT2's are a very good all purpose tyre for the 90 and very good in the snow.
Whilst Grabber make some good tyres, I'm not sure I would have fitted a full on snow tyre in the summer either. It is likely to wear very fast. Really as a full on winter tyre, they are the type of tyre that you fit on a spare set of wheels that you swap into.
You also say off road tyre - they do not look like off road tyres, do you mean 4x4 tyre (for road use).
Good luck - let us know if thay last until the first snow!
