Our electric bikes are too heavy for the bike rack on the back door of our van conversion even without the batteries & it is rather too high to lift one up there nowadays and put the other inside the van.So I wondered if anyone has fitted a tow bar to carry
bikes that way on van conversions.  The OH seems to think she has seen this whilst we have been out & about.. Any info/comments would be greatly appreciated.

It should be possible but you need to know what weignt the racks that fit can take and the weight of the bikes as I assume they are going to be heavier than usual. There are several tow bars available for the Boxer so that should present no problem.

Be aware of the current and max gross vehicle weight if a tow bar and bikes are added.

Thanks wildwood & justus2 will bear those points in mind. Will have to do some research as the spare wheel is also slung under the back.

You neeed to bear in mind the max plated weight of the towbar too - 2 x electric bikes and the weight of the carrier might exceed it.  If the batteries are removable might that be a solution? (ie they will be light enough without batteries to use the existing
    carrier??)

Thank you Bolero Boy.  Not been able to check replies recently.  Still not sure what we will do.  There is some 'discussion' from the OH as to whether we may sell the bikes. We shall have to see as we have not used them much it
    may be on the cards..
