Isabella Sun Canopies

We are debating buying a Sun Canopy and wondered what people's thoughts were on them.  We don't want a full awning, just somewhere dry to sit under

It doesn't have to be an Isabella, if anyone has another make to recommend.

We have a Fiamma sun canopy on our motorhome fitted when we looked at it.  We use for shade or as rain shelter, this year more often then ever before! We wind it in and out as needed and never leave it out overnight or if we leave the van, we've seen the
damage it can cause. We do have a storm strap but haven't used it, maybe cos its never been sunny enough or wet enough

We have an Fiamma canopy and hardly ever use it.

We bought it to provide shade, but it rarely works. The sun shines in at an angle and therefore we found we were rareley in the shade - the only thing in the shade might be the top bit of the caravan wall.

I guess it would work to some extent as a rain shelter.

We were given dire warnings by someone on site about what the wind could do to it. We soon realised he was right, when a gust lifted the whole thing up in the air. You have to tie it down well with guy ropes. We never leave it out at night or when we aren't there.

Others will tell you that theirs somehow provides plenty of shade and is perfectly safe left out.....I'm just speaking of our experience.

I agree with Ian about the amount of use. We don't tend to go to Europe, circumstances, both enjoy the sun so rare, especially lately, to require shade in UK.  If you have a dog beware we lost a canopy leg because she tangled her lead around the leg, without
us noticing and a squirrel caused her to get excited - exit one canopy leg

We have a canopy to fit our Isabella Magnum Porch awning. I find it a real boon as sometimes I want to sit in the shade(there is such a thing!)but not the awning. It gives extra room too. Nice to have a glass of wine under and when the weather is cough cough inclement, but warm, we stay dry. I'm still waiting for a day that is warm!!!

We made a sun canopy for our van from a large p/u sheet sewn onto a strip of awning tape and a couple of alloy poles with guys, cost us less than 40 quid all in and it takes 5 mins tops to erect, just the job for short stays where you want to leave shoes outside the van door and a bit of shelter/shade etc.
