Hello Nightowl,
Welcome to Club Together.
I'm moving this into the Parts and Accessories Section as this is going to be more about a cleaner rather than a motorhome issue.
We have had several discussions on black streaks and people use various brands of caravan/motorhome cleaner and/or black streak remover, all usually available from most caravan accessory shops.
Hope this helps.

We also wash the mh each time we return from a trip even if it's a quick weekend away

Mer car polish works, as do most of those waterless car wash sprays. A proper caravan or motor home shampoo (not car shampoo or washing up liquid) usually works too, but takes a bit of scrubbing I found.

Two or three coats of a good polish once you get them off will help in the future. Also make sure that you clean round and under any windows. Especially the ones that seem to just sit over the window opening. Also clean the roof.
Write your comments here...QFour has hit the nail on the head, cleaning them off is one thing. but trying to prevent them is another. The black streak is a concentration of dirt which comes mainly from the roof and where the water flows down the side leaving
the dirt on the side. Having a clean roof will help to prevent them.0 -
Hi we always use Silky cream. Comes in a small tub which lasts us about three years. Found its the only thing to work fpr us. Costs about £4 a tub.
...would totally agree Silky is the only one we have found that removes all the stubborn streaks, it wil also remove light to medium scratches from the windows, great stuff. Then follow that up with a good few coats of Mer, will keep it looking good all
season with just a quick wash, then repeat again before winter to protect it.0 -
Now now MM !!! Lol. If you polish your MH with a high quality polish and by high quality I'm talking Autoglym you will not only reduce the Black Streaks but you'll be able to vitally wipe them away. I use High Definition wax by Autoglym, their top of the range wax and boy! What a product. Very economical in use and leaves everything silky smooth and protected for weeks let alone gloss. It can be used on all types of materials inc plastics, rubber, acrylic windows and the like.

Totally agree with Merve. My caravan gets two or three coats of Autoglym each year and then, like a previous poster, I only use Stardrops to wash it with. There's no salt in Stardrops, unlike most detergents, so it doesn't take the polish off and any black
streaks disappear in an instant. I've been doing this on my various boats over the years and believe me, boats get a lot dirtier than any caravan / motorhome!0
