Two reasons all my vans previously have had charcoal filters. And charcoal does filter a lot of microscopic muck out of the water.I presume this let's you drink it without boiling I know you can buy bottled water but how often do you clean your teeth in
bottled water0 -
A charcoal filter won't remove bacteria and they don't claim too. They may imply it in their marketing spiel but they don't say it out right because it isn't true. A charcoal filter does remove chemicals such as the chlorine compounds which are put there
to control micro-organisms in addition the filter itself will provide a lovely environment for bugs to live and breed If you don't like the taste of chlorine by all means use a filter if you think it is going to provide any form of protection against bugs
think again. I would also suggest if you fit a filter the ideal you should change the filter daily. Non of my last three vans have had filters and I drink the water with no ill effects so far.0 -
I've been drinking water from the aquaroll without any filter for all my caravanning life and it's been OK so faaargh.

I agree with Boff.
I hate the scum that floats on top of your tea so now we buy the cheapest bottled water for drinking and making tea.
I never spend more than 17p for 2ltrs.

Why buy?????
Just have an empty bottle and fill it from the water tap!

I drink the water straight from the caravan tap.
However if anyone really really wants sterile water. I am quite happy to work with you to design and sell you a system. I will guarantee two thing. Firstly the water will be sterile and secondly you couldn't afford it.

I recently fitted a simple Whale in-line filter, seems to have helped. I find most English water unpleasant, and the lumpy bits in my tea are disgusting. I wouldn't drink bottled water at home, but usually need to when in the South.

I had the same thoughts as the OP when we bought our new Barcelona, last year, but when I looked at the pipework there was no easy way of fitting an in-line filter without causing an awful lot of disruption, expense and general aggravation. So - we went
for a Brita filter jug which works fine and the filters can be bought on-line in bulk at a much reduced cost.0 -
