just taken delivery of the 2016 bradcot modul air 390.

had a practice putting it up in the garden and it was quite easy but my concern is how to stop air escaping from the valve when disconnecting the pump

I can only assume u have to be very quick or alternatively leave the pump attached which I guess allows  us  to keep topping up if needed.

Has anyone any advice on this

Think you will find  the inflation valve has a "non return" flap built into it . I have the Kampa Air 200 and there is no escape of air when removing pump inlet hose.

Just replace safety cap when inflation completed.

Thanks for last reply. Doesn't seem to be non return valve. There is a button u have to turn to open and then inflate and then close after. Unless I'm missing something

Oh just wondering if the valve should have been left in the llock position to blow up and only unlock the valve to let air out !!!

Our first (of three) air awning had a very difficult to operate inlet/ outlet valve. It had a large nylon ring, around the inflation valve, which had to be screwed up tight to prevent air escaping when the pump was discunnected. For deflation, the nylon
ring had to be  loosened but refused to do so unless a very large pair of pipe gripping pliers were applied. This was seemingly because of the pressure in the air beam. The next generation had a push button to release the fully inflated pressure. Our current
Kampa has three simple deflation 'taps', separate from the inflation, one way, valve.

I re read the instructions. All valves need to be closed when inflating so clearly they are non return valves. Problem solved
