Hi  i have just brought my first motorhome and was wondering what tv is for the best..... can i use a domestic house tv or do i need to buy a 12v/240v tv?

ideally i need the tv to run form the leisure battery as well as mains connection as kids think their arms have been cut off if the tv does not work !!!!

Any help and advise would be great - thanks

You  might  find  info  on  this  topic  on  the  thread  "Parts  &  Accessories"  but  to  get  you  started  ++>  many  folks  on  here  use  a  common  or  garden  household  240 volt type  T V if  they  are  not  going  'Off  Grid'  as  they  style
it  !  Otherwise  its  a  case  of  Seek  &  you  shall  find  alas  !  Maplins  sell them,  Go  Outdoors  might  and  Caravan + Motorvan  dealers  probably  do,  but  they  won't  be  cheap
    Sad  !

You could run a standard domestic 230v TV via an inverter off the leisure battery but I suspect you would need some means of topping up the battery like a solar panel because if you intend to be away for longer than a couple of days.

If you look carefully, some tellys sold as mains are in fact 12 volt at the telly itself and are supplied via a transformer. You just then need the appropriate supply cable.

    Dual voltage , 12 volt or 240 volt .

I chose Avetex , pricey but very good .

My 12v/240v Cello works well and is less pricey than the Avetex.

    MM beat me to it!

I use a cheap, sub £100, 20 something inch TV with DVD from Tesco that came with an external brick transformer with a 12V outlet. I just bought a couple of 12v connectors and spliced the cable so I can use it on 240v (most of the time) or 12v if needed.

But each to their own and if depends how comfortable you are with DIY.
