Corelle - gutted

I've had Corelle crockery ever since we started caravanning and have been very vocal in singing its praises over the years.  Chip resistant, break resistant, scratch resistant, oven proof, microwavable, the list of benefits went on and on and on.

However, on arriving on site last Friday I opened the caravan door to find half the contents of my crockery cupboard on the caravan floor, smashed to smithereens.  The door had somehow flung open in transit and my beloved Corelle lay in a million tiny pieces.

I was under the impression you could drop a Corelle plate from the top of a tall building and it wouldn't break.

    Hi,

We had the same experience after a 'windy' tow a few months ago. So, no it is not shatter proof - and the resulting pieces have very sharp edges. We have changed to a bamboo set. So far, so good.

    Cheers

I have also broken a piece, it all depends on how they land or on what. Mine slipped out of my hand, dropped a couple of feet and caught the corner of the hob. Had it dropped straight onto the carpet it may not have broken. Anyway it is more resilient that most crockery and certainly better than melamine
