Cheap TV/DVD recommendations please
Usually take a 21 inch TV from home with us for use in the caravan. After looking at the demonstrator for our new van today we feel the 21 inch we have might be too big. Don't want to spend a lot of money since it might not get a lot of use if the weather
is good! Is it worth getting 12v? Have looked at eBay and Amazon already. Any recommendations?

I will be replacing my older Avtex 12v TV with one of these:

Very good 12v TV's, aerial will be for home use, I use a satellite dish.

We use a 21" TV as well with freesat. It also plays DVDs. As we dont use it that often we dont see the need to spend money on anything more expensive.

Look at any of the supermarket brands, I've a Tesco combo that is excellent. Some are 12v anyway.

Agree with Wallacebob, we have an unbranded TV/DVD that we bought from Asda, couldn't tell you the brand but just over £100, does the job. We had used the laptop but if you are sitting at an angle the screen doesn't look good.

My recent experience suggests you get what you pay for. A £99 TV from Aldi was rubbish - kept losing the signal and the viewing angle was too small. limiting where it could be viewed from. In fairness to Aldi, they gave me a refund without question. Subsequently bought a 24" DRS Avtex which is suberb - crystal clear picture, large viewing angle, excellent reception and all the facilities for 12v / DVD and satellite built in. Expensive, I know but as I said - you get what you pay for.

If you plan on being off ehu then 12V / 240v tv is the best solution.
I have the following model that I am planning on selling and its around 8 months old. Doesn't have the stand though as it was attached to a wall bracket. It came with our new m/h but we have the 21" model so it's not required. If it's of interest let me know
and I will provide an email address for us to discuss.http://m.gooutdoors.co.uk/grade-vision-plus-15-6-portable-led-tv-dvd-p267870

Ours is a Samsung which cost £100 and the picture is perfect. Good signal as well but perhaps that is because of the caravan aerial.

Ropers and/ or Catterick Caravans, both based atCatterick in North Yorkshire, both stock 12/240 volt 18.5" television/DVD player, sets for caravans complete with respective power leads for each voltage. Personally, I have the Vision Plus set and it is fantastic
and an ideal screen size for touring 'vans. With the Vision Plus directional aerial fitted as standard with my 2012 Swift and the self seek facility of the t.v. It has never failed to give excellent coverage . The sound and picture quality is amazing. Good
luck in your search.0 -
We have been using a 19 inch Teknika tv/dvd combo that we purchased from Tesco many years ago. It has served us very well. Even survived being dropped on the floor one day. As we always use EHU sites not having 12v was not a problem. We have recently
changed to a 21 inch Avtex as we wanted built in satallite and it is superb. Three times the price of our old Tesco one mind you!0 -
Many thanks for everyone's comments. Will keep a lookout on Gumtree/EBay for secondhand and supermarkets for deals. One thing I noticed after looking in Currys today - the screen sizes are fine, it's the height of the stands that are the problem but the
Conqueror 580 does not have a wall bracket. Cannot justify the price of the caravan specific TVs as we would not get the use out of it - my other half bought a satelite kit reduced in Aldi and used it at home once to try and it's been in the case since! But
at least it cost under £40!0 -

quality and I have since sold it on.0
