Odd request re Duvalay topper

Just got a Duvalay topper and going to put in van today.

However, after handling the topper my hands felt a bit funny and tasted salty.  I then put my tongue on the topper cover (like you do!) and that tastes very salty as well.

I think it must be the fire retardent finish and am a bit worried it will get damp, as we suffered from the Bailey damp mattress due to wrong finish being applied.

My request to you is does your Duvalay mattress topper taste sort of salty - just put your tongue tip on it to see!

I shall ring Duvalay on Monday but will check to see if topper cover gets damp between now and then

Many thanks

Salt will definitely attract water Katie - there's a special word for it Hydrophobic? No  - Hydrophilic  for substances that attract water. I would definitely contact them but leaving it in an atmosphere which is not overly wet but has some moisture in it might also be a good used. mmm interesting!

Hi Katie - just had to pop upstairs & lick the Duvalay topper - no it didn't taste salty. Seriously - we've had two sets of these brilliant toppers but never had the problems you describe, either the odd feel after handling or the salty taste. I
would hope that Raskelf would exchange them for you - it's what I would be looking for.

Laughing Great post, I can imagine everyone licking their Duvalay's now. Embarassed

    But seriously, mine is tasteless.

    Thanks for your testing Dave!

Just rang Duvalay and they said that this is normal for covers when they are new and it will disappear with time!

Checked the cover this morning and although it felt very cold it was in fact dry.  The lady at Duvalay did say they do feel odd when they've got very cold.  Apparently I'm the first customer to have actually tasted the cover however!

    Also thanks to Vanbirds!

I'm going to wash the cover which might help and just keep an eye on things.
