I'm in the process of selling our complete Al-Ko Lock.  A chap is interested in buying it on ebay and has asked if the insert is un-registered.

To be honest, I don't recall registering it (naughty I know).  Can anyone tell me how I can tell if I registered it and if I did, how do I de-register it?

Its not the insert that is registered its the lock number, which would have been on the paperwork that came with the lock, you need to go to alko website and look

Got to be honest, I don't have a clue where the paperwork is, so will need to have a dig through files tomorrow night.  JVB would Al-Ko be able to help if I've lost the paperwork?

...Its worth a try ,I have checked the credit card sized registration number, and it is needed to get replacement keys,,did you not get a discount on your insurance ?so i would think the lock would not be worth much if not registered

    Probably not.

The problem would come if you lost the key. Alko will only send a replacement to the registered owner, after you have answered the security questions you set up at registration. Therefore, it needs to be deregistered when you sell it and reregistered by the new owner. Otherwise if they lost the key Alko would charge them a call out fee to come and remove the lock and no new keys would be supplied.

Catherine - did you sort this out?

This thread made me think back to registering mine 9 years ago and I checked the Al-Ko web site. In order to change the registration details you need the code for the lock (on a little card that came with it - probably thrown in the bag full of instructions
etc if like mine), the CRIS number of the caravan (etched on a window and a right pain to read), your email address (mine was an old one I'd forgotten and I had to search on an old computer to find it) and your birthdate. Also the answer to a secret question
that you answered when setting up.

I ended up contacting Al-Ko and with some of this information, they were able to un-register my lock and now I've re-registered it with things that I can remember.....hopefully!

Yes when we went to pick up the new van the old Lunar Lock had the booklet and card in the plastic box.  So I'm selling an unregistered lock and I've had a couple  of bids.
