Island bed bottom sheet
Good afternoon
We are considering buying a caravan with an island bed but don't really want to buy specialised bed linen. Could we get away with ordinary bed sheets? Would love to hear other owners views on this and whether they are happy with the bed it's self.
Many thanks Bod

I would just buy a normal stretch fitted jersy sheet, should fit fine just pull in tighter under the corners, why pay for extortionate bedding. I have always made custom bedding items for our vans as I have a sewing machine and am able to do so, others have
other ways to make their beds work for them, but the island bed I would think is the easiest.0 -
We have an island bed and use standard double sheets, tucking them in as normal. Yes, it's a little trickier than in a conventional bed to pull them really tight, but that's no problem to us. In any case, as you slide the bed to the "closed" position and pull up the mattress end ( for daytime access) it tends to mean that end of the sheet needs retucking. I'd be surprised if having a fitted sheet meant you didn't have to do that, as its consequential on moving that end of the mattress.
And we love the bed. Easy access, no remaking every night, very comfortable.

Jonic are asking £39.99 + £5.99 standard delivery (up to 28 days) for an island bed fitted sheet. I personally think that is a bit too much to pay! Will see how we get on when we get our new caravan and might fashion something myself if a normal double fitted
sheet is a problem.0 -

Thank you all for your help - we have stretchy bottom sheets now so that will be one less expense! Going off tack a bit - we are finding interior build in Coachman has gone downhill in 5 years - but exteriors are an improvement ! Anyone else feel the same?
We have been forced into making a change by circumstances.0 -
Hello Bod. If you want to discuss the build quality of a Coachman caravan, you'd be better opening a new thread in the Caravan Section rather than encourage this one to go off topic.
Many Thanks.
