Been on the Southport club site easter weekend and on nosing around the other caravans and mhs on site I noticed a few differences in ehu cables the one that really stood out was a blue one

All the others were orange or should I say orange ish

Ours is getting upto to 3 years old and is still very orange but some looked very faded and looked more like a dull yellow colour and it made me think is there a life span on ehu cables as in the amount of uv damage to the outer skin

Just wondering that's all

They will last a very long time so don't worry about replacing. Whilst orange is nice and visible and recommended by the Club (although not cumpulsory), most cables I see on the continent are black and smaller diameter.

Oh heck I've never changed cables on purpose in thirtyfive years, in fact for quite a few years didn't have one to change!

Perhaps I've used new ones when changing vans but I.ve got three in the garage still bagged.

The blue ones are usually for use in cold weather.  I've been told that once temperatures get below zero, the orange ones can become brittle, the blue ones are good to about -15.

We've always had a Yellow/Orange one and never had a problem, so far, in nearly 40yrs of caravanning, although we caravan all year round and at all sorts of temperatures that one meets in this country. All I find is that during cold weather the cable does not wind up as easliy as it does when the weather is warm. I must admit that as we change the van fairly regularly the cables we've had never get older than 10 yrs of age.
