Electric cable - caution!

After many years service, we decided to replace our caravan cable as it has a number of cuts and scrapes (presumably where people have wheeled things over it?).

So, I ordered one from Amazon, but then something made me check and I'd ordered one with 1.5mm  wires......and apparantly they won't cope with the 16 amp supplies found on CC sites and no doubt others.

Not that we use a great deal of electric supply (see my electrical knowledge coming to the fore here?
Wink) I managed to cancel it in time and re-order one with 2.5mm wires.

Something people ought to be aware of?

Well, the new orange cable arrived....but it didn't have the storage bag that the advert said it came with.

Contacted Amazon and they immediatley offered me the choice of an exchange, return it and a full refund or a 20% credit against the full price.

What a great company Amazon are to deal with! Laughing

Decided that I would re-use my old cable by cutting out all the bad bits and shortening it. Should come in handy for plugging in at home or maybe even an extension for the new cable.

Anyway, chopped off the 'male' end and re-fitted it on the shortened cable. But could I get the female plug off? Could I heckers like! It would not twist apart!

So, unless I have another go and suddenly develop the strength of Hercules, it looks like a new plug will be required Frown

I reckon those cables, and other electrical things with pre-wired plugs are assembled by robots

Yes - it will heat up.  But you could leave it curled up in the awning and avoid cost of buying an awning heater.

..And it might also be why there have been reports of EHU cables catching fire if not fully unrolledUndecided

Some have a 'one-way-cam' action precisely to stop you undoing it!  (Yes, someones warped idea of H&S).
