Nose weight gauges

We are taking delivery of a new Venus 570/4 which will be very much larger than any previous caravan we have had.  I am conscious of the need to ascertain our correct nose weight as we work our how to load what will be a radically differnet van from our
2 berth vans of the past.  I think our cheap nose wight gauge, which is many years old, is inaccurate.  A quick search shows me that there are cheap and cheerful gauges available or the Milenco for approximately £30.  What do others think of the cheaper ones?
 I don't want to spend £30 if I don't have to.

If you have a set of bathroom scales you could do a weight test to see if your old noseweight gauge is accurate or inaccurate. Use a piece of wood between the hitch and the scales. Bathroom scales are more likely to be about correct so if the noseweight
guage is showing a slightly different figure to the bathroom scales just add or subtract the difference accordingly when using the guage. It will save you the cost of a new one.

Great idea, thanks. I guess I will only need to do it once or twice as we always load the same way.

I do as JohnM20 does with a piece of 2x2 inch wood vertical between hitch and scales. I also put a piece of wood flat across the surface of the scales to spread the load.

And I bet that using that method is inaccurate because bathroom scales don't work like that.

Do not rely on bathroom scales, we have two and neither of them give the weight they should when i stand on themSurprised

Forget the bathroom scales, the other half says our's must be faulty as they say she is heavier than what she is, Idon't believe her because they get my weight right.
