13 pin to 7 pin adapter
My tow bar has a 13 pin socket and my caravan has the two 7 pin plugs. I have bought a new 'one piece' adapter (not the type with short twin cables). Are the any members out there who have this type of adapter? What sequence do you have for plugging in?
ie adapter into the tow bar first, or 7 pins into the adapter first, I don't want to put undue strain on the pins. Thanks

I would be a right faff not to fit the adaptor to the vehicle first. The 13-pin system has mechanical support in the casing and does not rely on the pins.

I think it is same as the one that I have is there a leaver under the unit if there is offer the plug up to the socket and bring the leaver over and it will pull itself in then plug your caravan plugs into the sokets. Exactly right Navigateur.

There is a lever under the adapter which helps clamp it to the 13 pin socket, so as Navigateur says, there is mechanical action in addition to the pins. That's what I will do first, and secondly plug in the 7 pin sockets into the adapter. Thanks for your replies.

Trust me to be different, I found it easier to connect the two 7 pin plugs into the adaptor first then connect it to the car; I found the action of using the lever to pull the adaptor onto the socket much better than pushing the 7 pin plugs onto the adaptor already fitted onto the car.
